Really enjoying my first ICS experience I have to say - it's not a massive improvement IMO, but rather a gradual improvement much like GB was over Froyo - it's certainly more intuitive and usable than GB. . . . It's hard work re-finding everything for the first time though!

One thing I'm missing from Launcher Pro on Apex is the ability to assign individual swipe gestures to a dock icon - on LP I had the dialler as a dock icon, with a swipe to bring up contacts - Apex seems to just have generic swipe gestures?

I can live without it for now, as I realise Apex is still in Beta.

I seem to be having a battery problem this morning. An hour ago my battery was at 100 % and then half  an hour ago it was at 84 %. The only use it had was I had receive one text message. I turned phone off then on again and turned off wifi. Battery level is now sitting at 68% and steadily decreasing.

I got phone in Dec so only three months old, and have had no previous issues.  To normally get to this battery level it would take a few hours of wifi use, playing games, using apps etc, none of which I have done since taking phone off charger this morning.

Does anyone have any ideas what is causing this, or are there any known issues.

Phone is not rooted and running telecom stock version 2.3.3

Which ROM did you decide on?  Your signature isn't updated ... yet. (says she who is NOT throwing stones BTW).

Wanamlite v10 - it's LP3-based, with the latest Siyah Kernel. . . . .I don't think I'll update my sig any time soon, as it will be in a perpetual state of flux for a while to come - I remember back in the good old days when Froyo first hit the I9000 - we seemed to be flashing constantly (and twice on Sundays!).

I too had an odd battery issue. Running stock and was sitting on about 65%. I popped the back off the case to wipe some dust from the camera lens and must have bumped the battery. Put the cover back on and after restarting the phone my battery had dropped to 13%.

I understand there is a 'battery bug' that is fixed in the 4.04 release (at least for the Nexus S)? http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/03/28/download-official-android-4-0-4-imm76d-update-for-the-nexus-s-heres-how-to-get-it-right-now/

lchiu7: I just bought the GT-i9100T for a friend from The Warehouse as part of the Samsung free TV deal.

Sweet I thought. Alas the friend is from China and reads negligible English which I didn't think was going to be a problem until we unboxed and fired up the phone to find that it has no Chinese language option!  A guy in a store said we could just download the Chinese language but I think he's been smoking something since I can't find any official other language packs to download and install.

Does anybody have any idea of how to install another language pack without having to root the phone and possibly install a different ROM?

Thanks

AFAIK, no, I've never come across a language pack as such and a quick Google search reveals none either.  Technically, you could try downloading MoreLocale2 and change the language to Chinese. Now this would work for multi-lingual apps, but the UI of the OS itself may not change to Chinese, as that would need appropriate files in the framework. I'm not aware if the stock Telecom firmware has it or not. Or you could wait for Telecom to release the ICS update and there might be a good chance the languages are included in it..

joker97: Omega perfect for me ...mfingers crossed no crashes ...

The only downside is the wifi signal is still verybpoor but no worse than before thiugh ... Is this a sgs2 thing? My iphone and ipad wifi is far superior ... We are talking good connection w the apples in my room but the galaxy toggles between cery weak and no signal

No issues here, but you could try this fix: http://db.tt/j6gXa1VL

adamvnz:
joker97: FC +++ with non system apps

most likely non compliant coding of those apps on ICS rather than bad omega ICS/siyah i would think ... the usual suspects like trademe, opera nonmini ... can't remember the rest (not enough sleep! 0_o

Try what I quoted above but change contacts to trademe, opera etc.
I have the same setup as you and trademe hasn't FC yet.
Otherwise wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache fix premissions

+1. (Also, no issues here with TradeMe and Opera Mobile)

The battery drain is a known issue in 2.3.3, it was fixed in a newer version (2.3.6, IIRC.) Guess you'll have to wait till Telecom releases a new update - which should be "soon".

You could try charging to 100%, stay there for a bit, then power off, take off the battery for 30 seconds, then power back on - this should re-calibrate your battery. Also worth a shot is enabling the power saving features. Finally, do usual power-saving bits, like turning off auto-sync, GPS, etc.

IM getting great battery life now on Darky HD XXLPQ with XXKP8 modem.

Easy over 24 hrs with moderate use, and nearly 3 days with light use.

i think i could make it last of 3 days easy with only texting.

XXKP8 is giving me great reception too on 2degree, and very fast 3g.

i'm on omega 6.0 ... how do you regain screen capture? in GB it was holding home + power ... now no more?

battery life a bit poor :(

really need to not touch it and see ... on GB it was 1% every 2 hrs overnight ... this one seems to be at least 3-5% per hour - wakelock from system and "phone jack"??!!

also this rom is a bit jerky ... might have something to do with my clocking setting:
using scheduler CFQ
governor ondemand
siyah kernel 3.0b7

any ideas

Taking a screen capture is Volume down and power. It's blimmen tricky to get the timing right so that you're not accidentally putting the phone into sleep mode.

Same settings here but no issues. Unfortunately, I've no idea what "phone jack" is and why it's causing wakelocks..
I'm suspecting a third-party app could be the cause. I recommend using CPU Spy and BetterBatteryStats for more info.

My CPU Spy:

As you can see the majority of the CPU time is spent in Deep Sleep, which is a good sign.

I see so much conflicting information about ICS, I am torn, I am very keen to try it, but not keen to have issues or massive battery drain or to need to reconfigure my apps again! Wammalite or Omega seem to be the consensus, and I think it makes sense to use a LP3 ROM, but I keep thinking there is another release just around the corner...

Battery seems to be back to normal. I also notice why trying different things this morning that my Google Play Store was down and wouldn't load. When it did come right and I could load it again, battery drain seemed to decrease as well. I recharge phone after lunch and mostly seems good so far. I also loaded a task killer app.
