pogostickconz: strange one, thanks lee.

It seems to be a one-off issue, nobody else has mentioned it.

Ok I don't want to sound like a noob but probably will. I want to flash my GSII back to Telecom stock firmware including getting rid of CWM. Is there an easy way to do this using Odin or something?

Yeah, grab the Telecom ICS from here - just do a page search for TNZ. . . . flash via Odin.

Thinking of trying WanamLite (11.4 I guess).  I like 192 dpi though, and seems I might have to use Siyah kernal to get that work.

Anyone using a custom dpi with WanamLite?  I assume Siyah works well and is safe again.

I'm using the supplied kernel and am running 192dpi. I manually edited the two entries in the build.prop file to achieve this.

OK total noob here.

Should I be able up upgrade my VF SGII to ICS using Kies yet? I'd rather not go the Odin route but it seems that there is an official ROM out..... When I try in Kies I get "Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies"

Cheers

PS: Kies - what a POS!

That message can occur when you have a mismatched CSC/firmware.

What details do you get when you enter *#1234# in the dialler?

Odin is pretty simple once you get used to it. With Kies I used to have a 1-in-3 chance of getting successful firmware upgrades for my phone when it first came out. It was very frustrating and time consuming. At least with Odin you can have the same firmware downloaded in your own time and then install it in just a couple of minutes.

I get:

PDA: I9100XWKE7
PHONE: I9100XXKE4
CSC: I9100VNZKE2
Build Info: Wed May 18 16:08:22 KST 2011

It should be the standard VF build as after loading different firmware on phones in the past and jailbreaking my previous iPhone I just wanted to stay standard this time around :)

I can concur regarding battery life on ROM: WanamLite v11.3.1 and Kernel: AbyssICS v2.7.

I don't turn off stuff i use, so Wifi, BT, near max screen brightness. Been playing music, sending texts a bit of web browsing, plus a couple of phone calls and i still have 21% battery after 1 day and 5 hours.

Would probably have more if I stopped checking my battery level every hour or so.

That seems to be fine - are you using a Mac by chance?  Kies doesn't support firmware upgrades on the OSX platform.  Otherwise, I'd look at uninstalling KIES, removing the drivers, and reinstalling... or you could just go down the Odin route but flash the official firmware.
