Chex:
adamvnz: Had the same problem. SO I downloaded 1.2 I think that the new 1.0 was a complete rebuild of the old Abyss.
The abyss 1.2 is working very well so I recommend downloading it.

ps. Nofam you beat me by 3mins. Darn slow two finger typing

Using (abyssplug +sio) I get good idle and small usage battery life but once you get onto the downloads, video or long term camera use it begins to drain very fast (94% to 14% just over an hour). Might try one of the later siyah versions to see the difference although im sceptical after the one bad egg.

K1000716:
I've been watching the thread for some time now, but haven't yet tried it. It looks like a great bit of work though doesn't it?

I'm actually waiting for Vertumus's next ICS theme then I'll likely go back to stock (with JKay's mod). I've been trying far too many roms lately and need a little stability. ;)

Lee

Ive used version 1.0 and I did enjoy the various modes but once you are done with the tablet/hybrid option its basically a phone with dpi overdrive... still a few bugs and kinks to work out before its a daily stable.

Wondering how those with the T model are handling the I9100TDOLP4 Modem, I am getting great speeds in the CBD but not so great reception, ive heard good things about telstra's DVLP3 and vodafone's DULP4. Anyone tried those to compare if not I will give it a go.

i have tried all sorts of kernels ... my unscientific winner is siyah 3.1rc1 believe it or not ...

on omega rom 9

however as you said all of the ics rom/kernel suffer from usage super drain - more than (not sure how much more but seems more) GB

no solution?

i too am now quite frustrated with seemingly horrendous battery drain with any usage - surely it can't drop by 20% in 20 mins? (this am!)

can anyone now remember what it was like (usage battery drain) with say fluxmod 2.3.6? even playing mp3 with screen off can drain 10-15% per hour with ICS 4.0.3 - it's not just the screen, but screen plus cpu +/- gpu is i think unacceptable ...

and no i'm not forking out more money on SGS3 that has a larger battery and smaller power consumption, or a bigger battery for that matter

I get great battery life on Wanamlite 11.7 with Abyss Kernel 3.2. Have you tried that combination?

Tried the newer Abyss 1.2 (renumbered the kernels) but my bluetooth wouldnt work properly.

Have you used an app called "wheres my Droid power"?
I was using an app to monitor my data usage called onavo and found out that onavo was my biggest sucker of batter power.
What I'm saying is that you might have an innocent looking app sitting there sucking the life it off your bat.
I'm on wanam 12 and down to 90% after 2h 20min using mostly telecoms network and a little wifi. I am a heavy user too. Sorry can't comment on using music yet on wanam 12

when it's sleeping at home it drains about 1% every 3-5 hours .... and then you pick it up to use it and boom 20% gone. leave it alone, and again 1% every 3-5 hrs ...

i don't think wanamlite will change much to be honest but one day when i have nothing better to do i will clean install it

Does anybody have access to spare parts?
I need a replacement micro usb connector as one of the pins inside it has come a little loose and shorts to the one next to it which makes the phone think its always charging.

The ones I have access to are standard 5 pin but after pulling the phone apart it seems they use a 7 pin (not sure what the other two pins are for, didnt trace it out.

Cheers

My port got borked after I dropped my S2 in a bowl of noodle soup. Bought the USB connector (comes as a part of the charging assembly) for about $8 USD from eBay.

Testing WanamLite 12 stock with Siyah 3.2.7.1 + Extreme under volt settings to try and get this aggressive drain with use under control. So far its showing similar results to both the old and latest abyss, 3-5% overnight drain, 1-2% hourly standby, 15-25% every 30 mins constant use.

My conclusion after using the 3 T model modems is the I9100TDOLP4 Telecom comes out on top for speed and average reception (17mbps), telstra's DVLP3 and vodafone's DULP4 had around 9mbps with DULP4 having the best reception with full bars most of the time.

To all real geeks can anyone tell nee if it's possible to change cpu stepping eg disable some steps by changing one line on one file or is it more complex than that. I'm on siyah 3.1rc1.

I know later siyah has this ability under extweaks but it crashes my phone and this is the best kernel for my phone I'm not changing kennels anymore.

Thanks.

Eg i want to remove 1000mhz and 1400mhz.

You can actually download it from Google Play:

If you need a download-mode jig ASAP, you're welcome to borrow mine!  Works with SGS I/II/III.  I also have a SIM cutter available (Dunedin) - happy to post either to you at your cost.
