I have been using this for a while, and thought I would try the MMS again to see if that work. And it doesnt, a few work mates have sent me MMS and I dont get them.

ROM: JellyBam v5.1
Kernal : Siyah vSync

Will have to look at the CSC or APN's again. Grrr.

brunoccs: Hello Everyone,

I'm new here so I apologise if this is a stupid question. Earlier this year I updated my gs2 to  ICS using Kies, and ever since then I've been having problems when playing music from my phone on my car stereo using bluetooth connection. It simply restarts the phone after a few minutes playing.

Anyways, I'd like to know if there's currently a way to install JB on my Galaxy S2 (i9000). I researched the subject and came to the conclusion that since ICS doesn't allow backup/restore of the APN settings, root and flashing ICS is not possible. Please tell me I'm wrong (and I most likely am).

If anyone could point me to a step by step on rooting and installing JB on my GS2 (be it CM10 or whatever else works), I'd be much obliged!!!

Cheers.

Step 1. Root your device

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746794

I would suggest going for Method 1 - it's by far the cleanest, safest method - you wont be voiding the warranty (ie you won't touch the flash counter or get the yellow triangle), nor there is any risk in bricking the device.

Step 2. Install a custom ROM of your choice  (flash the ROM from your SDCard by booting into CWM recovery, doing a full wipe and then flashing the zip file)

If you like the stock experience, then I suggest installing WanamLite, as it's a really fast, clean and slick ROM based on official Samsung Jellybean:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436817

or if you don't mind living a bit on the edge - running the latest Android code, then use any CM10 based ROM. I recommend JellyBam, as it takes the best features from the best CM10 ROMs, and is under active development - the latest update was released today! (and the community is very active and helpful)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1903162

(As per my experience, everything works fine in CM10 except for HDMI mirroring (you'll be able to watch videos via HDMI but other stuff won't work). This will be fixed as soon as Samsung releases the sources for JB)

Have you had any issues with receiving MMS ? I can send on JellyBam but not recieve?

Try CM10.1

Some changes were recently merged to fix what I believe was the issue with AOSP based ROMs and MMS on Telecom.

Devices: HTC One, iPhone 5 and Microsoft Surface 2.
Gaming PC: Intel i7-2700k @ 4GHz, ASUS P8Z68-V Pro, 16Gb RAM, Samsung 500Gb SSD, GeForce GTX 690, 2x Viewsonic 24" Monitors, Win 8.1 x64.

JB 4.1.2 has also just been officially released (internationally) for the S2 so that might be another viable option if it's the rom causing issues.

No MMS on Skinny yet, still...

Oooh about time! I ditched my GS2 for a Nexus a few months ago and haven't looked back.

I've been running the leaked JB firmware for a while (was on CM10 when it leaked) and it has really transformed the S2. With custom rom tweaks and a few S3/Note2 apps thrown in it's like a little S3 now.

Great interface and very smooth. I'm just waiting for the devs (not chefs...) to port the good mods to the new rom and then I'll be making the change over. Currently running Alliance Rom (new Darky's Rom) which is AOSP themed and has some great mods.

Oh, and I'm about to be changing my micro-usb port after my phone went swimming. Only fault was phantom charging/connection issues caused by the malfunctioning port.  $10 for parts (oem) and about 15 mins to swap over. Just waiting for it to arrive...

I have decided to ditch the JellyBam 5.1.0 ROM and went with one that K1000716 suggested I believe. The  Simplistic Completely Stock Deodexed ROM, very good ROM.
I like that fact it is Stock, but downside for me it uses PhilZ Touch 3 kernal, not Siyah vSync.

Plus side is I can now received MMS's. :D

Cheers for the links lads.

Why wait for Telecom? Just flash new ROM, then flash a "T" radio...

AFAIK, all phones sold here are unlocked... Slap a SIM in and go!

I'm on an i9100T... Running on 2degrees... Haven't had a telecom firmware on it since about 10mins after getting home from buying it! ;-)

I think you misunderstood me... I'm not saying that there is a Telecom 4.1.2.  I'm saying you can use the overseas firmwares if you want...  I'd just suggest flashing an i9100T "radio" (aka modem) afterwards... as I've found the T-model to be a bit funny using the standard i9100 radios.

These 2 threads are a good starting place:

Modem/RILs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1881304
Modem Collection: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131950

Personally... I am using DOLP4 (and the associated RIL files), which I extracted myself from an official Telecom Firmware from the sammobile site...

FYI, I am a dev on SlimRom, so I'm already on JB4.2.1... 4.1.2 is kinda old news ;)
