ah i get why people are so annoyed with the yellow triangle now - it screams "I have been hacked I have been hacked" to the repairer (or anyone with any knowledge) Apologies for poor typing standards when on Samsung Galaxy S4

nzgeek: stevenz: 2.3.4 could turn up tomorrow, or it could be months away, or never turn up. Depends how patient you want to be. According to @samfirmware, there won't be a 2.3.4 firmware for the SGS2 until next month. ArtooDetoo: Odin flash, but my phone's an SGS 1, so maybe that's the reason I don't see it, or maybe Chainfire's root mods the kernel in a way that doesn't 'un-sign' it? Whichever, I don't have the yellow triangle on boot. As others have mentioned, the yellow triangle was added to the boot screen on the SGS2, and indicates that you're using a kernel that hasn't come from Samsung. It only shows up if you flash a non-stock kernel using Odin, not if the kernel was flashed via Clockwork Mod (CWM). The triangle can be removed either using the jig, or by Odin-flashing a stock kernel then CWM-flashing a custom kernel. joker97: Question: if i leave it with the Chainfire kernel will my data, video calling, MMS etc still work with VFAU? Flashing a new kernel (and only the kernel) will not affect your data. The kernel is stored in a different part of the flash memory. joker97: Why do you suggest Chainfire instead of say Lite'ning ROM? are they interchangeable? (gosh i grew up hacking windows since i was 10 and i have grown up completely Linux iliterate!) A kernel is only a small subset of an entire ROM. The kernel is the core OS, and is responsible for providing basic functionality needed by other apps. The rest of the ROM contains things like the user interface, the applications, etc. Chainfire only provides modified kernels. These kernels will root your device, and will put on a few root-related system apps (CWM Manager, SuperUser, busybox). No other part of the system is touched. Lite'ning ROM is a complete firmware package. It contains a custom kernel (looks like Chainfire's one), a new UI theme, and has some removed apps. Anyone looking at it will instantly be able to tell it's not the default Vodafone firmware, so it's probably not really what you're looking for. thanks, this should be part of a sticky at the top of android forum! Neets: Where K1000716 go his/hers. That's where mine came from too, and I believe nofam ordered from the same trader. Handy little do-dad that's sitting in my cutlery drawer. I've heard of lots of people ending up putting theirs through the wash. Seems not to harm it but why leave it in your pants? It's just the cost of a coffee (I presume - I don't know what coffee costs, or the current price of the app - I should shut up!). The point is, developers make apps usually for nothing, sometimes providing more functionality in "donation" or "paid" apps. They deserve to receive something in recognition. They make my life a whole lot easier when I'm flashing my phone. I've never regretted paying for an app yet. EDIT: Good on ya! joker97: Ok will buy it thanks I held out for 6 weeks before buying it, not thinking that it was really all that necessary. If you like flashing updates or rom, or like modding then it's a must have. It saved my butt last night when the latest lite'ning rom went wrong.

i dont normally like putting case on my phone(s). however, SGS II is extremely light and i am always concerned that i may drop it! bought ZENUS ESTIME COLOR POINT SERIES and i highly recommend it. the phone is still light and thin.

I've ordered a Rearth Ringke case for mine :) http://www.rearthusa.com/Galaxy-S-2-_p_252.html Might not turn up for a week at least, though. I want one for the weekend so I might source a crap one locally, or just use my dumbphone on friday night (somewhat epic night in the works, much more epic than usual, worried about dropping my phone or something similar (ie I may end up getting so under the influence that this could become a very real hazard). Vodafone stores (well technically the one I spoke to is a DS Wireless) are getting them this week, apparently.
