Kilack: How does the extra size feel in the hand? Do you wish it had stayed at 4 inches like the galaxy s?

No problem here, a very small number of users are finding the ergonomics challenging though.

Kilack:How do you rate the camera compared to the original galaxy s? (which was pretty bad really)

Much better.

Kilack:Is the samoled plus screen really a big step up from the samoled screen? or just marketing hype?

Its not just hype. To me the difference to text and browsing is huge, but its also readily apparent elsewhere like in watching video. Some people noticed the pentile matrix in the original SGS less than others, those people probably don't rate the difference as much as me.

Kilack:Any parts of the phone at all you are a little disappointed in? Ive heard some comments about the speaker but not too much.

Speaker is OK, slightly louder, slightly tinnier - not as warm or bassy. On balance the trade off is probably worth it. I'm quite disappointed it hasn't retained TV Out via the 3.5mm jack, somewhat disappointed at how limited the USB Host functionality is (hopefully devs can kick it up a gear for us), bit disappointed that its less compatible with various Tasker functions.

Kilack:cheers

You're welcome :)

I can recommend the proporta puch that clove are selling.

Couple of questions I got,

How do you disable social hub, I cant even seem to be able to delete the accounts Iput in there.

With the app list in grid mode, can you sort it alphabetically?

Lastly , I know there is previous posts on this, can you change the lock screen to the android 9 dots grid and draw a pattern to unlock?

ancalag0n: I got my SGS2 today but am having problems with 3G.

I don't know if you've checked this yet, but have you turned on the "Use packet data" setting in the "Mobile networks" section of you phone's settings? It's turned off by default and you need to turn it on before your phone will use 3G data. Depending on where you are on the country you may also need to turn on data roaming as 2degrees use Vodafone for roaming outside of the major cities.

Have you tried resetting it to default? I know you probably haven't changed anything but you never know. Another option would be to manually enter all the details found here and see if anything works after that.

I think there is no way to disable it without Root, but I'm not 100% sure on that. Its easily done with Titanium Backup if you're Rooted.

Ambrose_1:With the app list in grid mode, can you sort it alphabetically?

You can do it manually in TouchWiz, new apps get added to the bottom though.

Most replacement launchers will have it setup alphabetically for you.

I can't even get it to delete all the accounts in there, bit strange.

Has anyone seen this happen before? Is the SGS2 not supported on their network?

Have you got the phone working on mobile data yet?  I was planning to order mine today but I'm also on 2degrees and would like to know beforehand if there's any drama getting mobile data working.  Thanks.

Mine arrived yesterday and worked on 2D out of the box.
Connected to Hsdpa immediately.

For me it's justmone issue.
I posted it on the other thread as well.
I've got a couple of gmail accounts and a MobileMe account configured.
The gmail app plays ok.
But the email one, when looking at any HTML email, it automatically downloads all remote images.
I cant find a setting to stop it.

Am I missing something?

Sounds like the email app is broken in SGS2. My SGS 1 doesn't exhibit that behaviour - the default is that you have to manually allow linked images to open.

If you're finding your email to be a problem, check out the market for a replacement email client that does what you want and remove your accounts from the one that Samsung supplies with your SGS2. At least until they fix it...

HTH.

Cheers,

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner.
HTC Sensation running Jelly Bean 4.1.1, alpha AOSP ROM, on Telecom XT. Rough around the edges but showing much potential considering it's pre-beta. My daily driver now.

That was it, thanks heaps nzgeek.

I should've realised that since I had to turn on roamin on the WP7 when I put my 2degrees SIM into it. :D
