Overclocking isn't worth the cost to battery life, I've underclocked mine to 1Ghz, I can't notice any difference but it ekes a bit more life out of the cells.

VFAU?

1) i have a clock adjuster with ONDEMAND 'governor' - 200MHz-1200MHz: doesn't it mean i am saving battery? ie when at rest it sits at 200MHz? overnight it barely used any battery when i slept.

following from that, if i made it 200MHz-1500MHz, i am sure the battery consumption would be very similar (i currently don't do heavy processing like 1080p video, gaming etc but would like to OC "just because I can")

2) vodafone australia

hmm ... i'll ponder the OC kernel(s) when i have time and energy

That is standard behaviour. The ondemand governer will ramp CPU speed up & down depending on demand for processing power. WHen the phone is idle it will spend most of its time sitting at 200Mhz. Background applications will often cause CPU spikes, particularly with the "Android OS" usage issue present in 2.3.3.

Overclocking to 1.5Ghz will cause CPU spikes to run at 1.5Ghz instead of capping them at 1.2Ghz. It needs to be sustained for more than a couple of seconds for it to ramp up that high though. Depending on what's running in the background it may make very little difference. Generally speaking most media playback etc won't cause the CPU to run at full speed continuously. Even at 1.5Ghz, the display would still be using most of the power assuming that's running a fair bit.

The Super AMOLED screen will use less power the darker the image it's displaying is, (or even the closer to the red end of the spectrum I believe), so a black carbon-fibre desktop background will use less power than a bright sunny sky background.

Generally speaking, the less apps you have polling in the background while idle, the less effect an overclock will have.

ejo: My appologies if this have been treatee earlier in this post.

I just got my Galaxy s II and signed up for Telecom XT Smartphone plan.

Have anyone experienced that webpages (or any data content) is not loading?

Everything can work fine for a couple of hours and then without changing any setting, I am unable to use any data (can still receive texts and calls). This can last maybe an hour or so and then it will work fine again...

Is this happening while you're using the XT network or Wifi?
I have that problem with wifi, need to switch it off and then back on again to get it to work. It's a known bug that 2.3.4 will hopefully fix.

On another note, does anyone know if the Telecom XT network uses Fast Dormancy?

I'd also like to know if XT supports fast dormancy.

I've seen a similar issue to this elsewhere (earlier in this thread perhaps?) the finger seemed to be pointed at a faulty device. My SGS2 works perfectly on XT.

Which brings me to my next request, if anyone out there has a very recent XT network Android device who can pull the /system/CSC/ folder off it and upload it in a .ZIP it'd be appreciated so that I can see if there's anything beneficial to putting together "native" XT support on the SGS2.

Have scanned through this thread and couldn't find anyone with the same problem. Btw, I have not changed any network or APN setting and the phone was bought from Expert Infotech if that matters

Mine is from expert infotech as well, and running on 2 degress; I haven't noticed any trouble with mobile internet (but I seldom use it extensively, check email, a web page or two thats all).

Mine is running the latest cognition ROM and the ddke2 modem.

K1000716: I have been using my phone with the wifi turned off today and have not yet experienced any problems with connecting to the internet via XT. Not sure if this relates to you comment on known bug on 2.3.3 having to switch wifi on and off?

I'm having some bad luck with post these last couple of weeks.

The jig K1000716 sent me has gone missing, and the one I received from Australia turned up like this http://imgur.com/4Bpr4

Still works though, but annoying none the less

have had some weird issues of late with mobile data.  pages would just not open and ven some issues connnecting period.

anyways, so disabled fast dormancy and boom ...issues gone.  not only that but batter usage looks more in line too with the display now the main draw rather than the android proccess.

oh and my official desktop dock arrived tonight .... so mint!

very slick looking, and it's not a case of having to slide the phone in, just the charge end.   so can rather just seat the phone in ... very nice.

Yesterday I had 3 calls beig disconnected from. This morning the wife says she can only hear beginning of sentences. I can hear her fine though.
Have anyone experienced this?
Btw, I'm on the Galaxy sii, the other phone is a Nokia 3120c and we are on Telecom XT. We had almost full signal when this was happening. Calls dropping and 'chopped' words was the very reason we swapped from Vodafone to Telecomin the first place.

Can it be any settings on the Galaxy sii??

Try putting your wifes sim card in to your s2 and yours into hers.

Maybe you have a faulty s2.

Mine doesn't do that, I'm on 2degrees.

Are you running stock firmware?  Changed any modem-related settings?

SGSIII
ROM: WanamLite v1.3    Kernel: Ninphetamine v1.1.0   Modem: DXLEA

SGSII (Now belongs to SWMBO)
ROM: WanamLite v12     Kernel: Siyah v3.3.2   Modem: BVLPB

SGS

If you need a download-mode jig ASAP, you're welcome to borrow mine!  Works with SGS I/II/III.  I also have a SIM cutter available (Dunedin) - happy to post either to you at your cost.

You sure about the Baseband being KE7 and not KE4?

Is this happening in a variety of locations, or is it only one specific location?  You mention having problems on Vodafone as well, so is it related to the topography of your location?  If you live in a hilly area you may be getting affected by signal bounce.
