Disrespective: I nearly missed a post on xda forums about this, and thought it a great wee feature.

SamsungDIVE

It lets you track/wipe/ring your Wave/GS/GS2 remotely through a web interface. It was able to accurately track my phone to a very accurate state in just a couple of minutes.

Can't complain.

Yeah already set my up. It's great can even pull the phone logs, Lock Phone, Make it ring, & locate it!

A very handy feature! I must put a link to it on my wife's phone...

After two days use (very heavy) I am loving this phone and am highly impressed by the battery life. I have mine running most of the time, with podcasts or music playing, as well as games (Modern Combat 2 is great!), web browsing and texting. I'm certainly not pushing hard, but my wife's GW620f wouldn't last half this long.

I'm getting GPS accuracy of around 12m, locking in about 11 seconds.

Has anyone taken theirs into Telecom (or any other telco's) yet? I had to pick up a sim card for it yesterday and had a few chuckles at the highly envious staff coming over to ask questions and to have a play. I felt like I was taking candy off kids when I left!!

Just received my GSII through NZ Customs yesterday, and when I came to sync mine with Outlook for the second time today using Kies, saw that there is a firmware update available already. Current version onboard is

PDA:KDD / PHONE:KDH /CSC:KD1 (XEU)
and new version available is
PDA:KE1 / PHONE:KDJ /CSC:KD1 (XEU)

I think I'll hold off for a while and let someone else take the plunge :-)

Only thing I'm a little concerned about with my SGII is the pretty poor wifi range and performance. I have two wifi networks here, (one 54g and one 300n) and both performed far better with my old iPhone and LG P-500. Has anyone else  found this an issue?

I've had a lot of problems with my Wifi. I find I have to disable Wifi on the phone then re-enable it to get it to work as it'll often drop out for no reason. It's a right pain in the butt.  I've set my router to G mode only, which seemed to improve it a little, but am still having problems...

Spong, I noticed the level on my wifi seems pretty low compared to my Desire, but it works fine so wondering if its just the indication rather than actual wifi strength?

Since I still have the Desire I might do a comparison tonight.

Thing I noticed was the automatic brightness seems to change brightness randomly so I turned it off.

EDIT: Be interesting to find out what the firmware differences are for? Maybe it fixes Wifi and automatic screen brightness :)

From what I've read on various online fora, Wifi is pretty awful across Android in general.

I have big problems with my Ideos X5 dropping Wifi, thought it was a hardware fault but just Googling it returns lots of similar stories across versions and handsets

FWIW, my SGS running the BUJPS modem has the same, if not better range on my Linksys WRT310n router than my previous and current notebooks; I still get reception 20 - 30 metres out into the back yard, and the router is in the middle of the house.

I suspect the range/connectivity issues are entirely fixable with new modem releases.

If you need a download-mode jig ASAP, you're welcome to borrow mine!  Works with SGS I/II/III.  I also have a SIM cutter available (Dunedin) - happy to post either to you at your cost.

Hmm I would go with the phone as probably at fault.  Huawei!! it's a half price phone (it wont have the best hardware or tolerences) ....  - this is a Samsung thread...  Never had an issue with a Samsung phone and WiFi.

cheersCool

had mine a couple days now ...awesome phone.  my htc desire off to it's new owner.

just loving the form factor so much ... so sexy.

physically the only change i'd make is the central button ... why is this an actual button?

i get the three buttom setup though ... it's so they can keep this black slate look. i mean even in the dark you know that if you press some where between the edge and the central button's edging ..you'll hit  the capacitive button you where after ... but why not make the middle one capatcive as well ..and just leave the edging in place?

very small quibble.

If you long press the notification tray when automatic brightness is turned off sliding left and right on the tray dims and brightens the screen, much easier than relying on autobrightness. Many here will know that, but just in case anyone didn't...

Wow, if anyone hasn't noticed, not only can the USB OTG Cable be used for Harddrives, it can also be used with logitech wireless keyboard/mice :)

Feels pretty awkward a keyboard/mouse on it, but if it supports HDMI mirroring, it'll make an awesome plug and play gaming device!

Unfortunately the PS3 gamepad/wired or non wired won't work on it :( nor will the Xbox 360 wired pad. So we'll have to wait for someone to get it working with our bluetooth stack

Mouse keys are:
Left click = touch
Centre click = Edit
Right click = Back
Scroll = navigate up or down

(edit, whoops just realised the mouse thing was in the previous video)

That's intended to prevent accidental screen activation which would be a constant issue with a capacitive button. Given the screen is the power hog in these devices, it makes sense.

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner.
HTC Sensation running Jelly Bean 4.1.1, alpha AOSP ROM, on Telecom XT. Rough around the edges but showing much potential considering it's pre-beta. My daily driver now.
