polglase:I see they are available for pre-order now. Any suggestions as to the best place to get them from?

I'd be happy to order extra units for others if it is cheaper to go in together.

Well even though the transformer prime doesn't have 3g, i'm going to bite the bullet and get one (and just pair with mobile 3g for now).

So I am too also looking for somewhere to order one that does international shipping.

Gamestop and TigerDirect both offer International shipping to NZ for ~US$80, I haven't used either place so would love a reference from someone who has.

I am happy to order for others to share the freight costs if anyone wants to participate.

Also if someone knows of other options...

Got an email from PBTech.

this friday they are selling the Asus Transformer 32GB with keyboard for $6??

Trying to decide whether it's worth it, or to go for the Prime.

Assuming that's not a type, I would buy one for $6, hell I'd buy a couple

I'm going to guess darkness meant $600, not $6.

No, the price is $6xx.

see here: http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?p=sale

I think we can safely assume the x's shoud be replaced by 9's...

Yep, that's how they're doing their sale. Just providing the first digit of the price, and the number of digits. Quite interesting. Although I think we can assume $6XX is going to be $699. I would assume all prices over about $300 will have 99 as the last two digits.

My olds borrowed my Transformer for a week and now want to buy one. They're not interested in the new one, as the 'old one' would suit them fine. What they're interested in is the old one taking a massive dive in price when the new one arrives. Anyone have any idea when that might happen? Do you think retailers might drop it significantly before the new one hits their shelves? Or will they wait until they stock both? Perhaps this PB Tech price is the first indication? Do we know when the new one will be available in NZ? Last I heard, it's a worldwide release in December?

You should sell yours to your folks and use the money to buy the new one !

$699 would only be $70 off. Given the prime will be released in the next month or so I think you'll see them for more like $400 before too long. They're still a great buy, but I wouldn't pay more than $500 for one myself.

It's their Xmas present to each other (so they're not likely to be interested in buying mine). I suspect they may wait until just before the day before buying it, by which time it may be down under $500.

yeah, another email just came through. $695 ex gst.

So that's not tempting enough. Rather wait for the Prime.

I use my keyboard dock heaps - wouldn't be without it. Makes the TF101 much more useful and easy to use.
I guess I use it more like a netbook than a tablet most of the time. But it is great that it works both ways, and "converts" really easily between modes.

kind regards Andrew TD
