Received my TF yesterday (ordered Sat morning on Amazon.com).

No nasty surprise on opening and build quality seems solid. Small amount of light bleed on the bottom but I probably only saw it because I was looking for it, barely noticeable unless watching black screen with brightness cranked up...

Will go hunting for the perfect sleeve today but I am thinking I might try and get the cheapest I can for now and buy one that was made for the TF once they are a bit more available...

It appear the $799 is for the 16gb, while 1099 is for the 32gb with docking station, so not as bad

Once they have built-in 3G later this year, I will be sold!

I think that $799 is a bit steep considering the base model iPad 2 is $499USD and $799NZD here, yet the base model Transformer is $399USD and $799NZD here. Someone's making some cream.

And considering the device has a worldwide warranty, I'm struggling to see why you'd purchase one here over amazon.com (apart from enjoying Harvey Norman perhaps).

Whether they actually get the stock is on 1 July is another question - there have been massive shortages

The base price is $399 without the dock, Playtech are selling WITH the dock! The dock is an additional $150, so $650 USD in total which is about $800 kiwi so its a darn good price. I just got my 32GB one yesterday from Amazon, cost me about $950 all up including freight but I would have preferred to buy locally.

BTW, Anyone know where I can get an additional USB charging cable and AC adaptor from?

I took delivery of a 32Gb Transformer and the Keyboarding docking station last Friday, which I purchased from Amazon.com

The Asus is my first tablet experience. I choose it after checking the reviews that were on the net. 4 days later I can only say I am very pleased with my purchase! The look and feel is superb, and it is going to a useful gadget in the house.

The total landed cost was NZ$852 for tablet (32GB) and keyboard .

Prices from a retail chain store in Singapore ...

Iconia is $600SGD vs $800 here at Noel Leeming
Transformer is $659SGD vs $800 at JB
Xoom is $800SGD, Telecom want $1150 here

Compared to Singapore I think we might be lacking in retail competition here.

Only reason I didn't buy was I wasn't sure if I my business could claim back the GST on an overseas purchase - does anyone know?

Cheers

If you don't pay any GST in New Zealand then you won't be able to claim any GST back in New Zealand.

If you imported the item and paid GST when importing it (for instance DHL may collect GST on your behalf and charge you during the import process) then you can claim that but you purchased overseas and just brought it back into NZ then the answer is no.

As an aside ASUS just pushes out an OTA update for the transformer. The rumour is that it is prep for honeycomb 3.2. I installed it with no issues.

Cheers.

Runs super smooth now like butter! And I think the apostrophe email problem has been sorted.
