Foo: So why is ArtooDetoo talking about not being able to enjoy any high speed 3G at home. It's a situation which has even led him to exclaim "poo" ;-)

My 'home' 3G is limiting my available download speed on XT and VF. I don't know what the theoretical maximum is, but the worse the signal, the lower the speed. So if I go sit under a cell tower, I will enjoy the full fruits of 3G/HSDPA. This will be fine if it's not rainy or cold.

I'm lucky enough to enjoy a decent broadband at home which the Sensation uses well via its WiFi connection to my network. But that doesn't help with my day to day testing of the XT 3G.

So, poo.

On another note, can anyone confirm that Electron World doesn't charge GST but you may get hit with it at Customs? Whereas if you purchased from Expert Infotech, you would pay GST...just seems that the price difference between Electron World is less than GST, so am left wondering why you would purchase through them (unless of course GST is completely avoided).

I purchased mine through Electron World and I did pay a GST inclusive price, however they did not have the item listed on their website at the time so I could not compare what their listed price was, compared to the price they gave me over the phone.

However, I did not need to pay any customs fees or anything else. I don't see anywhere on their site which says that their listed price is GST inclusive or exclusive, but they do include GST in their final price, and they are GST registered so you can claim it back, if required.

EDIT: However, before I posted this comment, I went through their online purchase process (since I had registered an account with them), and found that the final price would be NZD $736.47, whcih is their $701.46 listed price + $35.01 shipping fee.

So it would seem that their listed price is in fact, GST INCLUSIVE!

How is this fone able to go on XT? Does it have WCDMA 850? because I have only seen that it has 900 and 2100.

Special 850/2100 3G handsets are usually done by HTC via Carriers like AT & T, Telstra, Rogers, and... XT

GSM Arena doesnt usually note those models.

The XT version is due to be released soon in NZ through Telecom. It will be totally compatible with XT's specifications including 850MHz and 2100MHz.

Three Geekzone members (including myself) are currently testing them on behalf of Geekzone and Telecom NZ. The other testers are lokhor and Linuxluver. There are numerous posts in this thread with initial impressions and info about the Sensation and its performance on the XT network. Read through the posts so far and feel free to ask any questions you'd like answered about the WCDMA 850/2100 devices.

As far as we're aware, we're the only people outside Telecom NZ to have the XT specific production handsets in our possession. The results of our experiences will be updated continuously via this thread and elsewhere.

I have a question for any of the three that got given these. Do you get to keep the Sensations?
