Hey, I just like to thank LinuxLuver, Lokhor and ArtooDetoo for their comprehensive blog posts on the TelecomTech page. I finished reading them last night and have to say that they do really sway me towards the Sensation.

I know, technically the SGS II is 'better' and by all accounts the screen is spectacular, but sounds like the Sensation is still pretty good.

Time to finally read Murray's blog on Clove and perhaps get a different perspective.

Ooh, being lazy here, but does either of the Sensation or the SGS II have NFC?

Some editions of the SGSII (Korean ones) do, but the ones you'd be getting here. Sensation doesn't.

The only thing I'd be wary of is if you have any aftermarket micro-usb cables, they may not into the gap. That was the case with the one I got. The factory one fit fine, but on the aftermarket one, the plug was a lot bigger so I had to cut a couple of mm from the case on each side. I didn't care as it was cheap, but I wouldn't want to do it on a case I'd spent good money on.

But disregard if you're not using anything but factory stuff.

Right, about to settle back and start on NZTF blog on Clove.

Quick question (yes me being lazy again) - is the call quality as poor as a couple of other reviews say? While I'm not a big user of calling, it is handy to be able to be understood!

I've found the call quality excellent

I've not had call quality issues (but then I did give rather a lengthy disclaimer in my SGSII review about how calling makes up such a small part of my use that my opinion should be taken with rather a large grain of salt in that area).

I tested the Sensation's call quality vigorously against the SGS and the iP3Gs and it's clear and distortion free. I even tried it on the "other" network and couldn't fault it there either. If there's call quality issues, I'd be looking at the network/signal as first culprit, rather than a phone's modem firmware or its hardware.

Edit: a multitude of typos fixed. Bit of a hurry putting the reply together and it showed. *sigh*

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner.
HTC Sensation running Jelly Bean 4.1.1, alpha AOSP ROM, on Telecom XT. Rough around the edges but showing much potential considering it's pre-beta. My daily driver now.

Thanks ArtooDetoo, that is very reassuring.

I have another lazy question - I know the Sensation is 16:9, but I have read a few comments about the SGS II being more 'square'.

Is the SGS II 16:10 or something else entirely?

I think it's 4:3

16:10 would equate to 8:5... that would be a wacky screen size haha

16:9.6, so your last guess is the correct one.
