I have S-Off, CWM, and root. Still running stock ROM. Has anyone tried a custom rom yet? The only thing I am worried about is losing functionality.

ArtooDetoo: According to Android Guys, HTC have updated the progress on unlocking their bootloaders (for those whose bootloaders aren't unlocked as yet)...

"HTC tells us that they are making progress and that the goal of an August rollout is still in the cards. The first device will be the HTC Sensation, followed by T-Mobile's Sensation 4G and Sprint's EVO 3D.Devices will be continue to be shipped to consumers and retail partners in a locked state if only because of security and user experience. A user-initiated, web-based unlocking tool will be made available for for those "developers and enthusiasts" looking to unlock the bootloader. This tool will require users to register an account with HTC, waiving part/all of the device's warranty in the event something goes awry. From there, users will plug the phone into the Android SDK to retrieve an identifier token that gets entered into the web tool. This token will get you an unlock key that is entered into the device."

That's a bummer, as there's no way to restore your phone to stock and get warranty service since the unlocking process makes you agree to voiding the warranty, and your phone will be on a database of unlocked phones.

HTC giveth and HTC taketh away... Cry

But if one's bootloader is already unlocked....not an issue, I guess.

Might get my volume rocker fixed / replaced. ;-)

freitasm: Just posted another entry in the TelecomTech blog: www.geekzone.co.nz/TelecomTech/7764

Guess I better get these three almost-finished blog posts done and submitted. I was sick last week and it put me behind on everything to do with everything.

Tonight!!

Not talking about The Three Testers™ so much as the others out there whose phones weren't factory provided already unlocked. :-)

About time with the rocker replacement LL. :D So stop hanging about here and get down to your Telecom shop. Now. Right this minute...

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner.
HTC Sensation running Jelly Bean 4.1.1, alpha AOSP ROM, on Telecom XT. Rough around the edges but showing much potential considering it's pre-beta. My daily driver now.

I have been running custom ROMS since day one of unlock and have just ran into my first big problem.

My phone went dead over night - and I have a beta version of CWM installed which doesn't allow charging while off so its currently impossible to power on my phone. There are some guides around on how to fix this with adb but I will have to try after work.

Good luck with the charging issue, luckily I came on board late enough to have the fixed CWM. Apart from this issue, what has your experience been with running custom ROM's and what are you running at the moment. I have just flashed P3D and will be trying that out for a while.P3D2 P3D

Is it an update or do you have to reflash the entire ROM?

Well technically you can try it with just a dalvik cache and cache wipe but its only been tested with a full factory reset before flashing it.

I don't think I'd risk doing it without reset. How is your Market? Mine is really slow since flashing but not sure if it is because of ROM or if it is the new Market.

My market is not any slower than usual, the new version is a bit slower to load than the old one anyhow.

Charge the battery outside the phone. All you need is 10% to get booted.

The three contacts will be + / - and ground.

You can charge from a couple of AA batteries and some tiny wire bits if it comes to it. It's rough...but it works. It's how crims keep their cellphones charged in jail without a proper charger....but they are allowed to have batteries for radios....and radios have wires in them.

Haha...you speaking from experience? j/k. @Privoxy I converted an old usb cable to power some led's for my head taking software. If you have an old usb cable lying around and a multimeter, you could repurpose it to charge your battery or as linuxluver suggested you could use batteries.

Sort of. I was a Corrections Officer with the Dept of Corrections.

(That's how I know most of the stuff you see about prisons in the media is steaming shyte).
