CdTDroiD: Ive made a stock ICS ROM, havent uploaded it yet will test for a couple of days but i havent had any issues at all yet.. I think most of the custom ICS ROMs are having issues because they are implementing tweaks from there gingerbread ROMs and they are just not the same, ICS has quite a different base

Awesome.

I'm pretty comfy with MiUi right now, but wouldn't mind trying ICS out.

I flashed the InsertCoin ICS rom and so far it's pretty sweet. I tried the AOSP app pack that's floating around the Sensation XDA forums though and ended up having to reflash the rom as everything stopped work (launcher wouldn't load at boot) which was rather annoying. Trying out the new Sense launcher and ADW atm to find out which one I like best. Might switch back to the Sensation as my main phone for a little bit to give this a real go.

Just saw a music video on MTV and there was an HTC phone at the very start of it

Will.I.Am - T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever) http://youtu.be/vjIwmJMqrco

and found out it's the HTC Vivid 4G.

I think it looks bloody cool, and decent specs, similar to my existing Sensation. Chuck a newer versio of Android on it and should be a pretty sweet machine... I'm going to look into possible sources for it and pricing.

The only thing I was wondering was that since it's on AT&T's LTE network, would it work very well here in NZ, and on which network? I'm hoping Vodafone as that's who I'm with atm...

Some specs from Amazon's website - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0061QNY8M/ref=as_li_ss_til?tag=thepartim-20&camp=0&creative=0&linkCode=as4&creativeASIN=B0061QNY8M&adid=1NKJWRC40WW28QNEG5ZW

Oh yeah, says on their site it's XT compatible.. what differences would I expect if I wanted to run it on Vodafone instead?

It'll run on Vodafone on 3G, only where 2100 is available. See their coverage maps for that, it'll go back to 2g outside those areas.

Ok thanks.. looking at up and coming offerings from HTC, I think I'll wait until the Edge gets released and see what that's like. There's always something bigger and better around the corner aye haha!

I was on MIUI for a while and I really liked it. Only thing was FM Radio and Bluetooth did not work for me at all. I couldn't even turn bluetooth on. I wouldn't mind going back. I am using Insert Coin with 3.24 firmware so I would have to reflash the 3.12 if I were to go back.

A quick question about synching on the Sensation...

When manually I select the Mail app on my phone it checks both my email accounts - the old Xtra account that I've had for years and the Gmail account I only created when I bought the phone.

Under Settings > Accounts & sync > Manage accounts there is a list of all the things I want to sync, e.g. Mail, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc. and (for many of them) I can set whether I want to sync manually or automatically, and if automatically, how frequently. Under the Mail option it specifically lists my Gmail email address, but there is no entry for the Xtra account. But if I tap Add account then select the Mail option, it comes up with a New account "dialogue", and when I enter the Xtra email address and password and press Next, it says An account with this email address already exists.

How do I add the Xtra email address to the Manage accounts list to get both accounts to sync automatically?

Not too sure because my emails and gmail have always been seperate but you could try removing any email accounts you have set up and add them back one at a time.

scoobydoo: I once found a setting in my phone that allowed me to change the interval as to how often certain apps like gmail, tweetdeck etc sync'd for updates, and could have different timings for different times of the day (peak / non peak).

Buggared if I can find it now though, can anyone help me find it again?

The only place I know (see my question above) is under Settings > Accounts and Sync. In the Manage Accounts list, select each account for the update options, but the options available seem to be account/application dependent, e.g. (on my phone, at least):

1. Facebook for HTC Sense (like most accounts) allows me to select what features I want to sync, and how often,
2. Google provides a long list of features I might want to sync, but no option to select how often.

Not many seem to offer the option to set peak/off peak times...

How different is the HTC EVO 3D from the sensation?

My Xperia X10i is in it's death throws and I have about $600-$650 to spend on a phone.  I like the look of the HTC EVO 3D.

I deleted the Xtra account and, added it as a new account under Accounts & sync.  I didn;t delete the Gmail account though.  It seems to be working OK.  I get the odd [Login failed] message, but that happened before too, so nothing lost there.

Hopefully I have all the settings correct - they seem to be devilshly hard to find.  I have:

Incoming Settings
Account                xx.xx@xtra.co.nz
Protocol               POP
Email address     xx.xx@xtra.co.nz
Username            xx.xx@xtra.co.nz
Password             xxxxxxxxxxxx
POP server          pop3.xtra.co.nz
Security type      SSL
Server port          995

Outgoing server settings
Username
xx.xx@xtra.co.nz
Password            xxxxxxxxxxxx
SMTP server       send.xtra.co.nz
Security type     SSL
Server port         465

Anyone see anything wrong with those?

The Evo 3D will do 3D.....and that sets it completely apart from any 2D phone.

I have an LG Optimus 3D...and you just can't compare the 3D phones to the 2D phones.
