Right now I have cyanogenmod 9. Can I just do the ota update with cyanogen 9mod or do I have to revert back to the orignal telecom gingerbread rom first? If so, where can I get that. I was a bit of a noob when wanting to flash my phone and never backed up the original rom :s.

RuggyNZ: Big day! The update is out for Sensation, Wildfire and One X owners.

This is the official Telecom one correct?
What version have they released?

Although my HTC phones straddle your model (DesireHD, One X) I'm pretty sure you won't be able to OTA while you have a custom recovery, regardless of what firmware version you have installed. If you want to try the latest stock firmware their are repositories listed on XDA, and you may find the RUU for TNZ that you are looking for.

The big question in my mind is 'Why would you?'. My experience is that custom ROMs are far superior in most cases to their stock counterparts, particularly ones whose core is still stock based (ARHD etc). Cyanogen Mod that you are running at the moment are also moving into JellyBean, so you are able to get as near to the 'bleeding edge' as you want to. The caveat of course is if you are unhappy with the way your phone currently performs on the network. Even then wait to see what people on the updated stock firmware experience before leaping.

Awesome, settled then. I won't be reverting any time soon then. I definitely would update to jelly bean asap so you are right, no point going back  to worse software.

Yip Telecom.

Just updated now. Updating a whole bunch of apps as well.

Android Version: 4.0.3

HTC version 3.6

Software version 3.32.781.9

That's on a sensation of course.

I would like to say it's running better, but it's chugging along so I hope it's an app update that's slowing things down. It's also still reloading my home screen when I go back so I'll have to have a look into that.

It's sharper and crisper no doubt. Fonts are easier to read which actually makes the screen look better.

Anyone else having issues after the update?

I can't get into my Messages (stock app). Tap and nothing happens. Have tried clearing cache/data but the options are blanked out.

Any ideas?

Mine's just updated - I'm running the bog standard Telecom-supplied setup and not having any problems with access to apps or speed, so far.

So noob questions: There are a few obvious visual differences, and probably more going on behind the scenes. (1) How do I know if a change is an "Android" change or an "HTC Sense" change, and (2) where can I find a complete list of "what's new in Android 4.0.3 and/or Sense 3.6"?

I updated my HTC Sensation today to ICS, really impressed with the speed increase, feels like I've bought a new phone :)  Nice to finally have an update to the outdated version of Gingerbread.  Hoping HTC will bring out a update for Jellybean some time, but for now ICS is fine.

Great. So, now only one version behind the official release with 3.33 hitting the OTA a month or so ago. :-(

I am on ARHD and it is very stable. The only thing I miss is the sense gallery doesn't sync my picasa web albums. Very annoying.

The Sensation now has a fully working Jelly Bean ROM courtesy of bruce2728 at XDA. The final remaining piece of the puzzle, the camera, has finally been tamed and the ROM is designated 'beta' which should give the less adventurous the courage to give it a try.

Be aware that the demand for the ROM is exceptionally high right now, the download servers fair creaking under the load, but patience wins out.

So, everything works, and the ROM is stable for the majority. As most will be aware, I've been using JB as my daily driver for a couple of weeks now and it's very fast and responsive for me. I'm on the stock kernel at the moment but will again flash the Tamcore kernel for its overclocking abilities once I have everything sorted to my liking.

As always with these things, do a nandroid backup before attempting the update, and do a factory reset and Dalvik/cache wipes.

It's a super ROM and just as Telecom NZ grants us the gift of yesterday's best, the future arrives courtesy of the unpaid labours of a few talented amateurs and dedicated hackers.

Isn't the Android mobile tech world an exciting place to hang? :-)

Update: here's another link, in case the primary and mirror are down...

Cheers,
R2

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner. HTC Sensation has gone to its new

Thanks for the JB update.
I just relalised I didnt wipe the Dalvik/cache when I updated to the ICS ROM.
I didnt see that as a step in the process when I updated, BUT....should I have done this?
(its prob. to late now Embarassed )

Got my Sensation back on Thursday from Telecom after putting it in to get the volume rocker replaced. They also cleared the dust (and a fingerprint) I left behind after performing a screen replacement (Got the digitiser and tools from eBay for $26 delivered). A factory reset was performed but I still had CM9 installed when it was returned. I was almost certain that I would be charged for the repair as the void stickers on the internal screw had been removed and I was running unlocked, s-off and custom firmware but the repairs were all taken care of under the warranty. Sweet. Unfortunately my camera still does not work which was a disappointing consequence of performing the screen replacement myself. I have just installed CMX onto the sensation so now I have a Nexus 7 and Sensation running Jelly Bean. Yesssir

Just updated to Jelly Bean. Seems to be running nicely. The camera is weird when first opening as it is all stretched but it takes the photo fine. Once it has taken one photo the preview returns to normal.

I had one lock up. I was wondering if I left the camera open when locking it. Otherwise good!

How is the Tamcore kernal? Am really looking for a kernal with good battery life. Sebastian on ICS was great for battery life.

Cheers.
