I have completed a review on this device which is available on 2 degrees - for those that want a written review it's here  http://www.phonereview.co.nz/forum/index.php?topic=331.msg456 there's also some full sized pics.

Sweet.

So can you get the phone back again when Android 2.3.4 becomes available, flash it and see if you can attach a USB keyboard to it via the media dock.

Or you could hold out till a Sony Ericsson neo V (Only difference is OS version and 5MP camera) turns up and then just test that as it comes with Android 2.3.4

Sony Ericsson XPERIA phones built in 2011 will have Android v2.3.4 available later in October:

This includes:
  • Xperia™ smartphones to be upgraded to the 2.3.4 version of the Gingerbread platform with new features including Google Talk with Video Chat for smartphones with front-facing cameras
  • Updated Facebook inside Xperia™ functionality for enhanced like, share and discover abilities
  • Xperia™ smartphones introducing world’s first 3D sweep panorama functionality powered by Sony.
  • The software upgrade enables consumers to turn their Xperia smartphone into a mini-mobile PC by connecting USB peripherals (mouse, keyboard or game controller) to Sony Ericsson LiveDock™ multimedia station. Connect the smartphone to a TV via HDMI to get a big screen experience.
  • Swipe text input -  text input by swiping the finger from one letter to the next
  • Screen capture – allows the user to share a screen grab from anywhere in the phone.
I read Samsung is soon to release an Android 4.0 (Ice cream sandwhich) smart mobile.

Poor old Sony Ericsson, good phones but never in the forefront of technology. As yet they still haven't produced a dual core phone. Sony Ericsson XPERIA arc S at 1.4Ghz is the best so far.

Although I shouldn't gumble, my Sony Ericsson X10i I bought new for $460.00(NZD) a few months ago, is now running Android V2.3.3. Doh! And if it had a bit more ram, it could have been Android 2.3.4. Smile

Or if I had've waited until now I could have picked up a Sony Ericsson neo for $458.00 new in NZ or even a Sony Ericsson arc for $549.00

The phone's on the way back to 2 degrees but who knows they may release the Neo V but it is a bit of a downgrade beacuse it's got a great camera now but I can't see how downgrading to 5mp is going to make the device more attractive even with the latest OS.

Sony Ericsson were bad at releasing new versions of Android for their smart phones but they did get a big backlash mostly over the x10 which they were going to keep on 2.1 but as you say now is on 2.3.3 and I think they are now committed to upgrades of their phones.

The features of 2.3.4 won't make a huge difference to the average user but i'm interested to see how facbook inside xperia works - looks great on the demo videos i've seen.
