Hi there,

Just an update that they are rolling out the 2.3 gingerbread updates around the world now. They have got it in India, across Europe so hopefully we should see it over here soon!!

And also the ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) update will be rolling out in Q3 of this year.

I upgraded on Friday. Not much in the way of UI changes (a couple of new apps like Google+ and some changes to the messaging interface) but the phone as a whole seems a lot faster and smoother than it was.

I also noticed for the first time today that battery life is improved. Previously I would charge overnight, unplug at around 7am and the battery would be down to about 60% by around 3pm. I just checked and it's still at over 90% at 5:30pm (this is with Wi-Fi, GPS and bluetooth turned off).

I haven't noticed a big increase in battery life, but I am a fairly heavy user.

Overall the upgrade was enough to convince me to ditch my phone and by something made by a manufacturer who actually cares. The reason Gingerbread is 8 months late for the P970 is clearly the fact it's taken them that long to fully cripple it (no SIP, no multiple exchange accounts being two key things). The P970 also appears to have a fault when it enters low and non existant coverage areas where it will either lose the signal and not reconnect to the network, or actually continute tohow it's connected to the network with signal bars when it's infact not.
