It's five core actually... four performance cores, and one low power core that does background tasks and some foreground tasks. It switches dynamically. I linked to a white paper about it on another thread on GZ.

Only four cores run simultaneously so more like 4+1 core - they call it vSMP (Variable Symmetric Multiprocessing) and it's quite an interesting idea. will be interesting to see how it compares to Qualcomm's aSMP processors which scale each core's voltage and clock speed dynamically.

Any news on when it will be available here, or anywhere for that reason, all I've seen is early December in the US and early January in Europe

No idea when it will become available here, it will likely become available from parallell importers shortly after it becomes available worldwide.

I just posted this on the Eee Pad Transformer thread... The Prime has gone up for pre-order and I need to get one for a Christmas present, any suggestions as to where to buy?

I'd be happy to order extra units for others if it is cheaper to go in together.

Looks like the Asus Transformer Prime is about to be released, with various sites offering pre-orders.

Official Asus pages have gone live:

Ice Cream Sandwich demo on the Prime:

Pre-Orders available via: (Although I can't find anyone who ships internationally)

Anyone able to find somewhere that can ship the Prime to NZ?
Or anyone know or have rumours as to when the Prime will be available for sale in NZ?

Definitely keen to get hold of one. Would have preferred built in 3g, but will have to tether with phone for now.

I guess you have read THIS seeing you know preorder is available. I looked at a couple of the sites. Looks like they are selling tab only no keyboard, admittedly I didn't look very hard. Not to sure how many of them will be ship to NZ though.

And did anyone see what the actual shipping date was, I must have missed it.

It looks to me that TigerDirect and Gamestop both ship to NZ... is that not the case?

TigerDirect say shipping 28/11, Gamestop say 5/12... looks to me that they both ship to NZ for ~US$80

Doesn't appear that TigerDirect offer international shipping online: http://www.tigerdirect.com/sectors/help/international.asp

I have found gamestop does: http://www.gamestop.com/gs/help/Delivery.aspx
$29.99 usd for NZ shipping: http://www.gamestop.com/gs/help/internationalrates.html

EDIT: The gamestop page for the Prime states "Ships to U.S. Addresses only": http://www.gamestop.com/tablets/asus-transformer-prime-32gb-tablet-bundle/98405
:(
