Got my Prime yesterday.

Some YouTube videos and stuff up soon.

Early impressions:

- This is how Android Tablets should have been from the beginning, finally Honeycomb performance is as smooth as it should be (and should be getting the update to ICS very soon)
- Design/build quality/build materials: Drop dead gorgeous. The most beautififul tablet on the market right now
- Original Transformer USB adapter works in the Prime (got one yesterday from PB Tech, who have quite a few in stock for interested people), USB stuff seems to be working fine (used a Logitech combined USB wireless keyboard/mouse combo with it and all working well, did that whilst connected via micro HDMI to the TV and RDP to the laptop via Splashtop HD - awesome!)
- Finally Android tablets can play video perfectly, no longer will me phone play video better than my tablet!

Where did you get/import your prime from? I haven't seen them released anywhere yet (although haven't looked that hard)

ASUS are doing some pretty good stuff at the moment.

I am in love with my new ASUS ultrabook and feel like the original Transformer is a bit plasticy now.

The Prime looks a lot like the ultrabook with the circular metal pattern. The two of them together in my laptop case would look sweeeet! The bank balance wouldn't though.

Cheers, Matt.

Got mine from Ebay, only place I could readily get one from for the present time. Have another with the dock coming from Clove sometime later in the month hopefully.

StillAnAmature: No words can describe how excited I am to be getting my hands on one of these when I can find either a stockist shipping to NZ or an NZ distributor! This may be getting off topic a bit, and apologies for that, but does anyone know of a solar charger compatible with the Transformer Prime? I ask because I do a lot of hiking and tramping and even with the tablet's excellent battery life I'd like a way of recharging it on extended trips into the wilderness and abroad.

From what I've read, the tablet can be charged via USB, but the keyboard dock can't. Anyway, a solar charger that has a USB connection should do the trick.

I ordered mine from B&H on the 29th of November, got an email from them today (in response to another question I had) letting me know that they expect to have stock to meet my order in about 2 weeks. They already have the keyboard dock for my order.

i ordered mine on the 28th Nov also from B&H...64GB grey with dock. The dock was set to the status of "in processing" about 2 weeks ago. But the tablet itself is still in "backorder" status.

Which model did you order and which color?.

I ordered the 32GB grey color (Actually on the 28th too, at least in the timezone that B&H are in).

Are you having yours shipped here directly? I haven't decided yet how I'm going to get it here, would like to avoid a hefty customs charge.

I have been holding back ordering the Prime.
Very interested to read your reviews after you have had time to use the Prime for a while.

there have been some adverse comments on XDA web site about
WiFi strength
GPS drop outs or even failure to lock on
Encrypted bootlocker.

Hopefully the ICS update due soon will resolve the issues

http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1411

there has been a concerted effort in the form of a petition to ASUS to unlock the unit and maybe they will concede like HTC when they locked there products.

please post  reviews soon

There are logical reasons for the Wi-Fi strength and the GPS.

For the Wi-Fi the aluminum casing isnt the best for RF signals, this includes Wi-Fi. In the iPad apple uses the plastic apple logo to place the antennas (or in the case of the original Transformer it was majority plastic anyway) whereas the Prime doesnt do this. (If you mean Anand's own issues I believe it was found to be an issue with pre-retail units)

For the GPS, firmware updates could improve this but the assistance of A-GPS from a bit of personal testing helps heaps. With it enabled I was locking in mere seconds but just with Wi-Fi and GPS decent locks were taking 20secs+. With the lack of a 3G radio locks will take longer by default. Although I have no idea how it compares to other Wi-Fi only tablets

The bootloader... It's harder to explain but a reason could be that Asus is shipping it with the ability to choose between Asus' custom skin and the default Honeycomb UI which Asus could believe to be enough customisation for most users, something I detailed when covering the issue over at AMNZ this morning (http://www.androidmobile.co.nz/recent-news-list/item/1053-asus-transformer-prime-shipping-with-locked-bootloader)

As for reviews, the most indepth one out there at the moment would have to be Anandtechs

hi, thanks for the reply................

I assume therefore that unless a change is made to the case to permit the GPS antenna to function correctly and/or you are in range of a free WIFI link , then the GPS is going to marginal.

not a good start to the intro of a much anticipated android product.

Lies! They have the most technically detailed reviews, I have the most indepth reviews!

:)

First video up, usual pedestrian unboxing affair I'm afraid, more to come soon though:

It was locked to meet with Google DRM standards. A statement was issued yesterday regarding this.

Yea I have since stumbled across that, plus the Ice Cream Sandwich OTA update is starting next week! http://www.androidmobile.co.nz/recent-news-list/item/1055-asus-bringing-ice-cream-sandwich-to-the-transformer-prime-next-week

What do you guys think about buying one off ebay? There's one listed in Taiwan, at the RRP. I was just wondering if there are any major disadvantages to not buying one here? It comes with a 1 year worldwide warranty - you just send it back to them, which in reality is probably just as straightforward as dealing with Harvey Norman has been with regards to my laptop warranty.
I would need to buy an adaptor (right? Or does it only charge via USB?)... Any other issues?
