mrgsm021:
I was waited for months for the 32GB Galaxy S2 and then gave up on it because it was only a mythical creature that Samsung promised to release but never released.

32GB S2 was released, just not in NZ, only in selected countries/markets.

Good on Samsung for making the 32GB S3 available in NZ as well.

You serious? O.o I've Googled everywhere but can't find anything about it. Yes I hope the 32GB is going to be available soon. It's kind of unfair really, US is getting their S3 pre-ordering today and will be getting both of the 16GB/32GB in blue/white on the 1st of July.

Whereas UK,EU and else where has been promised for both colours but then only limited number of white 16GB was available at launch. The 32GB is also promised to Vodafone UK for the first month but none to be found. Lol. Is Samsung really keeping its words? I can't say that they will not but until I've seen the 32GB version of the S3 available to us then I'm still sceptical about its availability to us.

Please Samsung pretty please. lol I know Samsung won't hear me here.Laughing

I heard that JB is expecting more stock this week. Don't know what models, but I suspect white 16Gb.

And, I wouldn't be expecting those prices again, I think Noels could have a bit of ComCom pressure going on as they have basically bait advertised it - cheap price but no stock. $839 was below cost.

I think the 16G is costing retailers around $600USD each piece when ordering in bulk. $839 is not well below cost but it is at a slimmer margin of profit. :)

Though I have cancelled my ordered with JB because of the 20% discounted from NL.If JB getting their stock this week then I assumed that else where will do too. Samsung won't ship just a few hundred of devices and delaying other clients. I think we might see some blue version this next batch or next batch will see 32GB (If it exists).

I don't think they have much to worry about to be honest. The lack of supply wasn't their fault, no one got the stock they expected because of the issue with the blue ones, and they offered rainchecks to anyone that went in AFAIK. So doesn't really count as bait advertising.

All opinions are mine and mine alone, and do not represent the opinion of Telecom.

I think the 16G is costing retailers around $680 each piece when ordering in bulk. $839 is not well below cost but it is at a slimmer margin of profit. :)

Where are you getting that figure? I have it on pretty good authority that $839 is below cost. I have heard it is around $750-760 excl GST per unit cost. 839 less gst is ~$730.

A couple of pages back someone mentioned that NL got allocated about 180 units nationwide last week. The three JB stores in Auckland I talked to got about 30 each, multiply that by 13 stores = about 350-400 units for JB. I wouldn't be so sure that everyone will get them this week... JB obviously has some pull (could be from Australia??)

aye its not bait advertising, they are pre ordering and allowing the sale at that price, and besides, the sale for queens birthday for NL is a yearly thing, they had sorted the discounts off the various brands before samsung announced on the 3rd that it was being released when it was...fair trade act means they had to honour it.. or change the wording nationwide to exclude the galaxy s3

I mentioned the figure for the store allocations, that was the initial one at least, samsung i think wanted to get something out to most of the suppliers, my brother was told by brightstar that most of the NZ allocation ended up in aussie for their launch because that market was deemed more important presence wise, it was just a business decision, there will be a large influx of white phones to fill orders coming in early to mid june, so from the 7th to teh 21st ISH

That figure is from Samsung Asia retailer from a friend living there. But I think I've a wrong conversion of the currency quite a bit. Samsung Asia is selling them at $580-600USD (Sorry forgot to convert to NZD before). So I assume that it would be around $795 and that if you buying it individually. The price is included Samsung promotion 20% discount.

So I assumed that bulk ordering would be slightly cheaper. But I could be wrong :D please do not flame me. It burns really badly if you do.

am curious why stores sell it for below cost for a loss !? its not a vege shop where you sell milk cheap and hoping that customers will buy something else to cover that up.

items in electronic shop aren't cheap, how do they make any profit!!

IMO, Noels did not intend to sell it for that price, they were just caught out with their Queen's Birthday promotion as it had not excluded the phone.

Good on them for carrying through.

+1 for NL. They did good to secure consumer trust. Once you advertised something then you must do as you you advertised otherwise they can get sued and losing reputation.

Good for them for doing this. I have respect for NL :)
Good for us as well.

Hopefully a good sign for those of use holding out for a pre-ordered blue SIII:

A few O2 customers in the UK have just received shipping/courier confirmation for Blue S3s ordered in May - with some quoting a delivery date within the next couple of days!

Woohoo (fingers crossed) :)
