networkn: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646610 Flashing the top firmware requires root and root voids warranty correct (technically if you get caught). ? it shouldn't do ... i flashed that the other day via odin, it's just a normal stock rom. mine is rooted tho.

The Intl S2 is practically unbrickable (almost providing you dont use a particular siyah kernel but that's another story long gone) Its the US version that is susceptible to brick i believe On another note, i am so loving my S3, even worse is I am more than happy with stock TW5, something i though i would never say... the time will come to root and rom but not for now :D

my first impressions after using it for a day. probably not long enough to see all good things. Please note am not expert user like others but typical user who knows little bit about android. these are personal impressions but others might differ... 1. phone is not very comfortable to hold (for average sized hands). my previous phone (I9000) felt right at home in hands. and its slippery especially taking pictures, not confortable at all. Very frequently i hit accidentally volume keys ,power button etc., Probably will get a better grip after using it for few more days. 2. horrible auto brightness exactly same as I9000. i dont see any improvement at all. most of the time very low cant see properly. probably its first setting you should check once you got your phone. 3. music is same as I9000 which is excellent. 4. camera quality same as I9000 ,horrible again. even low ISO way too much noise! so far i tried only indoor shots but with good light. not yet tested outdoor. But photo capture is super fast! One annoying this ,i dont see any setting to show preview after the shot! i know i can press preview at the bottom but thats one extra click. 5. installing apps, man you should see that. its super fast. love it. i installed 20 or so apps in no time at all. 6. love s planner. nice colors good design. i think its going to make my business calendar purchase obsolete. 7. samsung mobile find me , works and nice. 8. battery is good ,better than I9000. thats all so far will add later.

Thanks for the tip re S Calendar, it does look really nice doesn't it. Might give it a go instead of business calendar.

Have a separate page with a month on it-widget. Google sync does the job- share partners calendar so everything available and up to date all the time GZMCC. Well after procrastinating and fondling in stores and carrying on I decided to just get the damned thing, strolled into DSE and picked one up in blue. First question I'm wondering about, does anyone have recommendations regarding mkv playback...damned if I can get anything to play and my DLNA server is on the fritz for some reason (to be sorted after I build my new HTPC) Also is there any ways to add an FTP folder to the built in file browser? Other than those two niggles a great phone, and im struggling to wear the damned battery down and still on the first charge after hammering it for several hours last night with the usual new toy enthusiasm :) EDIT: just found ES file explorer which seems a good replacement to the built in file explorer

Just picked up my replacement SGS III - the first had a couple of stuck pixels. Just charging it up before I do the pixel test :-) Now I can let myself properly customise things, something I held off doing until I got the replacement.

I have already rooted so I suspect I'll have to go in-store to show the problem with the screen (under dark conditions - which is how I use it in the morning while others sleep in). I'll have to un-root it. Have yet to find out if there's a method to un-root, or I have to flash the stock ROM to it. Just set up my insurance payment reminders as tasks in the calendar attaching a photo of the bill. Makes it nice and easy to have the necessary details in front of you, but now allows to file the paperwork and not have it clutter up the place until payment is due. It's the little thing .... Is it stuck pixels too? I think it's what has been described as the "glue" problem. You can see a section in the lower 1/2 - in the middle - of the screen that looks like a smear. It's like a crescent shape. I'd say it's around 3 cm in length. It's not at all uniformed like I understand the pixel problem to be. I can't take a screen shot becuase it's under the image. You can only see it in the dark room, with something on the screen with a black background. I can see if in the Parcel application, the Gallery, Kindle and my greader app. I haven't tried them all. Some of those apps have a slightly lighter "black" background so it's not quite as obvious, but the Gallery is very clear. Did you do the #0# LCD test?
