Bhavicp: I'd suggest getting Lightflow . It's pretty awesome. Lets you control LED notification per application. You can set specific ring-tones from the actual contact menu I believe. (Ie select a contact and it'll give you the option).?

So Lightflow will let me assign different LED colours for text messages from different contacts?

Playing with it now, i can set up light, sound, and vibration for each contact, i have the paid version

And different notifications for missed calls, sms, and mms for each of those contacts

Thanks for confirming that.  The Features page on their website doesn't seem to mention that...

Argh at lightflow

Try it and watch your battery go down fast, when i had it installed it would keep an awake lock on.
When i had it installed i had 6 - 8 hours battery life, after removing it i have 1.5 - 2 days

Yes, this was a tweet form NZTechFreak yesterday:

Light Flow was definitely killing my battery, powermanager wake lock gone from permanently on to only 15mins since Light Flow uninstalled

First full day of using my new S3. I'm down to 43% battery after 5 hours off the charger. Granted I've been playing with it a bit - but not constantly. Have turned off all the motion and face detection stuff but no have SIP internet calling on for incoming - but so far not at all impressed with the battery life for what I am doing.

Ah lightflow is the reason. I was wondering why after I got my new phone and loaded it I had next to no battery life.

Off it comes!

Does anyone who's in the know have any idea whether this is likely to be fixed in an update? Is it only an s3 or ics issue?

I've emailed the developer.

I'd like to know how many others are experiencing the 3G being used even when you are in range of WiFi you are connected to and authenticated for?

Happens at home and work.

If I turn off the wifi and back on again it works again for a while.

Happens on all 3 of the SGS3's I've had (White/Blue and Replacement Blue)

I've similar issue at work . first time you enable auto sync all comes thru ok BUT after that it just stops. as if sync interval is 24hrs or something! It happens only on work wifi and at home it all works as expected.

I had exactly issue with my previous phone I9000 with android 2.3 as well. i dont know whether its related to a weak signal or some other security settings on router.

I use app called llama and setup rule to turn on auto sync once every 15mins and disable again. works flawlessly.

I'm not a dev, but I can't see how it could ever be 'fixed' - the application's job is keep the phone ready, waiting for notifications to trigger the various colours you set - so by definition the phone couldn't really sleep while this was happening, unless the function was baked into the O/S, or even at kernel level.  It's a similar situation to the use of BLN on the I9000/I9100, which was pretty much wakelock city, even though kernel devs like Gokhanmoral managed to mitigate it to an extent.

Has anyone been able to make a video call to anyone? I have a blue s3 its my first phone that has a front facing cam therfore video capable, my work mate has an s2 yet both of us get "unable to make video call" were both on telecom which says all you need is a video capable device... * shrug*

Don't really care but wanted to play with it, wouldnt use it normally. I'm wondering if its something on our buisness contract.

It will likely improve after a few charge cycles.

Yes, I think that's because NoLED uses the screen, rather than LED keys/indicators?  But it's a good point - I do remember trying NoLED, and I still found it chewed through battery.
