Foo: Any recommendations for a flashlight app that uses the camera flash and can be dimmed up and down or even just allows 2 or 3 levels of brightness?

TIA

There is already an app for flashlight within the S3 stockROM.

Scroll down to widgets and locate "Light Assist". Put the widget on screen and you have a torch.
Man! I don't even have my S3 and yet I know it more than you do lol.

Can't seem to locate this widget. Does it allow levels of brightness for the camera flash? I had an app on the HTC Desire which allowed three levels of brightness...

The widget is called Assistive Light and as far as I can see you can't control the brightness.

Man I am feeling pretty hard done by, I think I have confirmed my second faulty GS3 in a row!

First one had issues with the microphone and the other, issues with WIFI, even after a hard reset, still not working!

So as per my previous post, have you categorically proven it's not your router?  i.e. your phone has a rock-solid connection on all other routers you've tried?

Yes.

I did a second factory reset immediately after the first, in line with a comment by someone on a blog and I've been connected about 10 minutes so far, interestingly. I'll monitor

Sorry, I missed that.  Have you tried flashing a different kernel?  This controls the wireless, rather than the modem, so it may be worth a shot to see if the newer sources help?

I'd recommend Ninphetamine - you can always flash the stock kernel back.

I've not done that, but doing so would void my warranty. Plus it shouldn't need it. I have an identical white one here working perfectly.

Yes, true - sorry to hear you're having dramas - that's a real PITA.

Yup. It's back to broken, so it's 100% faulty. Very frustrating. Never mind hopefully JB Will be able to sort it.

That sucks networkn. I can imagine your frustration. But believe you me, once you have a working device, you will be mesmerized by the sheer awesomeness of it.

On day 2 of having the device, and man it is a sweet little phone. My SGS 1 has got nothing on it. Even got a 64GB microSD card off Ebay so I'm all set.

Went into JB Hifi Hamilton this morning in search of those official accessory packs, but they had sold out. Ended up buying a screen protector because I really didn't want to wait for my Ebay order of a 10pack to arrive. Can't risk damaging the precious in any way.

At least I'll never run out of screen protectors ;)

drfragger; I have had it since it was released in NZ, but it's the second faulty unit. Because I have such a massive datacap it hasn't really stopped me from working, but it's just frustrating.

Yup you almost got it right.

I wonder why they made it a widget though, surely it would have been better as just an app?

Is any one else having the problem that when people ring you that they are unable to hear the very first~ 1.5 seconds or so of speach...ie they do not hear you saying "hello" or if they do it is very muted...even if you delay saying hello it seems that the very initial period of speach is muted somewhat....most people who ring ask ..."are you there?" because they do not hear you answer. And I have checked that I am not covering the microphone.

I was having those issues until I realized the microphone is at the bottom of the phone where I was putting my pinky finger to hold the phone securely.
