Question for JohnR or anyone if they happen to know. For the rom approval process with Samsung does Vodafone have to wait for the current pending rollout from Samsung before they begin testing on the next update or can they proceed on both simultaneously?

My thought process being if the official Jelly Bean rom is being rolled out in places now but we're still waiting on a minor bug fix to be ok'd are we going to be waiting even longer for an official ota update?

Testing a new update would not be impacted by a pending update like JB,

Hi there,

Any thoughts about this article. Do we really need to panic and limit the way we browse on S3?

No it will only effect Galaxy S2 and Note. If you're on later firmware then it shouldn't be a problem.

Update: After did factory reset on updated JB, my phone is no longer has the continuous proximity sensor issue. Seems like something gone bad along the upgrade. Best to wipe the phone after install and make it fresh.

- Camera app is a new app :)

You can now recording video and pause your recording then resume when you needing. :) Awesome!

I basically only do full-wipe ROM installs. Probably why I never seem to be affected by issues that seem to so plague many other users.

ibuksh:
mattbush: I bought a S3 from Dick Smith the other day.

I assume its an international version ie not linked to VF or Xt???
Being an inexperienced user should I wait for the Samsung update 4.1 or is it a huge benefit to get it now via rooting?

Thanks in advance!

If you are running an international version of ICS on your GS3, then just fire up kies on your pc and connect your phone and check for updates..

As soon as they are available for the CSC your phone is for, you will be all good to upgrade via Kies and will have nothing to worry about your data on the phone as all will be preserved.

Thanks for your help...sadly Kies does not work in Windows 8, so I guess I can do it online?
