I haven't had any problems with Kies, but then I don't fiddle around with loading alternate ROM's, etc.

My business partner, on the other hand, always has trouble getting her iTunes to recognise her iPhone. She has to stop some service and then restart it before iTunes will find her iPhone.

MMS problems?

Those of you still struggling with receiving MMS on XT and you have used every combination of APN settings, and Telecom has reset your MMS profile, etc etc and still no joy:

Use Go SMS.

It's a user agent problem with stock messenger and Handcent and probably others. Go SMS is good out of the box (and customisable too).

It was good until recently. It is intrusive and bloated with Go Chat and GoCloud. Constantly advertising stuffs. I have already rolled back to stock SMS app.

If I see any pita stuff going on with Go SMS ill just use it as an MMS app only. :-)

I really like Handcent. Still trying to get MMS to play nicely with it.

Used stock on Eclair/Froyo S1/S2 as couldn't stand Handcent etc back then. Since S3 I gave Handcent another try and love it to bits, completely to the detriment of stock messaging which to me looks soooo super fugly and blocky.

P. S. Once downloaded with Go, the MMS are viewable in the other messaging apps.

I have no issue with MMS in Handcent. You need to leave the stock messaging app running but disable the notifications though to get MMS to work. I am not on Telecom however if that has something to do with it.

Somehow Go SMS MMS stopped working for me or working but unreliably most of the time. Sometimes my MMS was sent to wrong people. So I'm not entirely trusting the app after this experience. Stock is good for me right now.

Pretty sure it's a Telecom issue (as in, and occurs with telecom, not necessarily a fault with them) but not sure what other circumstances are involved to invoke the issue.

I had the problem on multiple roms and Apps, and every combination of APN settings.

Hi All,

I could not find a similar post so thought I'd just post it...

I've got a notification this morning about a "software update" not being able to be installed as I was on WiFi.. no idea what it was, but during lunch I connected it to KIES and my hopes were confirmed.. Jelly Bean!!!  Android 4.1.1.  Took a while to update but it finished in the end!

I've got my galaxy S3 from PBtech about a couple of weeks ago. Judging from the manuals and warranty card bing in french, and claming to have 2 years warranty I guess the phone is parallel imported and was meant for France.

I tried to attach a screenshot, but somehow I can't figure out hot to upload it..

Android Version:
4.1.1

Baseband Version:
I9300XDLID

build Number:
JRO03C.I9300XXDLJ2

Cheers
J

I got my S3 from parallel import. I'm on WiFi only for data and check for software updates and no updated are detected. Wondering how you got the Jelly Bean update.
