t2g7th7b: maxlev: My French spec S3 from Pbtech updated to Jellybean the other day as well via Kies. No worries, all working good on Voda. I got my S3 from parallel import. I'm on WiFi only for data and check for software updates and no updated are detected. Wondering how you got the Jelly Bean update. It might depend on which parallel import you got it from. It could be from another country where the update wouldnt be released yet

I'm on WiFi only for data and check for software updates and no updated are detected. Wondering how you got the Jelly Bean update. I just connected via usb to laptop to charge battery, then fired up Kies which said there was an update. My S3 has SFR CSC code (France Vodafone)

I can't even connect the S3 anymore, it comes up with an error to say that my device isn't compatible with Kies version 2.0, yet the Kies software is the newest 2.5 version. At least with itunes I never had any problem connecting the device. Have also reinstalled the software and all drivers but it doesn't fix it. Also googled the problem and can see that some people have had the same problem but no fixes. But looks like Kies has a very bad name. Yes kies it's terrible software, just Google 'kies connection problems' to see how many people have issues and the hundreds of supposed fixes which don't work. I think you'll find most like myself have given up trying to use it Kies is worth keeping even if you have trouble connecting your phone. It seems to ignore the IP address which allows you to create a Samsung account set to a different country. You can go through the apps store and download the installation files, then using Kies Air (or the one time you fluke a direct connection) these will then install on the phone. It's about the only thing that makes using Kies worthwhile.

That seems to work ok, but I don't think it allows you to do firmware updates and phone backups like the full version. I expect the full version doesn't work because it is poorly written and is conflicting somewhere with other software on my PC. The fact that it produces an error stating it is 2.0, when it is actually kies 2.5 isn't a good sign.

hi not sure if i should jump in ask a question or start a new thread - tell me does the s3 have ONE gig or TWO gig ram? official specs say one but some sites report two ... confused ... thanks

Is there any really disadvantage in just having 1GB? I haven't found any problems or slow downs when running multiple apps.
