Damager: Check again, as mine's VTU00M. Looks like you have 1 too many 0?

No, that's my fault - it's definitely 2 0's, I just typed it from memory.

Damager: Mine is dated 05/12

Not sure whether to wait.. or flash that bootloader fix? Got mine off trademe.. Might have to hit up the seller for a receipt or something, or can providing serial number somewhere confirm the retailer?

Yeah, just see if the seller has it - tell them that you know it's not their fault!

And my 200 days is 200 days of usage since I bought it, not age of the chip. It's usage that causes the problem, not age.

There isn't anything that people can do and as siad nothing actually states that the new bootloader will help. All one can do is see what happens, worse case if it fails take it in and get it fixed as it will either be covered by warranty but definitely through CGA as its a pretty obvious there is an issue with some phones.

Problem is that people are starting to panic and there are all sorts of reasons being thrown about and all its doing is causing people to stress. Admittedly it isn't going to reflect well on Samsung for future so hopefully they take ownership of it publicly before it becomes a marketing disaster.

Think I might pick up a cheapie phone just in case :)

Yup.. agree on that. In case mine is one of those waiting for "sudden death", I still have my S2 to go back to while repair takes place

Wonder if I should flash stock 2degrees rom first in case it has to go back.

Wouldnt want to send it back and them refuse to fix as it has custom rom on it.

MurrayM: Yesterday morning I picked my phone up after it had been sitting on the table all night and the screen wouldn't turn on when I pressed the home button. The LED was flashing blue but it seemed unresponsive to all other button presses. I plugged it into the power and waited a few minutes and then tried again but still no response. Then just as I was considering pulling the battery out it rebooted all by itself. After starting up the battery meter said it has 58% battery remaining. It's been ok since. I hope this isn't the start of the "sudden death"!

This happened to me quite frequently before jelly bean. I did a factory reset and hasnt happened since

I work in Grafton area and my s3 with new UK 4.1.2 rom (not rooted) had problems getting data or making phone calls when in 3g but okay when it was on H or H+. Was there a problem in network?

It's working fine at home (Birkenhead) but most of the time it's on H or H+.

Should I be rolling back to Poland rom 4.1.2?

H and even better H+ is what you want, it's a faster connection speed than 3G. No need to roll back the rom.

Yeah this worries me somewhat as well =/

I've only ever flashed stock ROMs but as the carriers seem to typically be one release behind I've been updating (and rooting so I can turn fast dormancy off).

How would they know it has a non carrier stock ROM on it though? From my understanding, download mode (if they can even get that far) shows "Custom" with a stock ROM anyway

I know that - but as you can see in another thread - there was upgrade on 3G network, that's why H/H+ worked but not on 3G near my area. It was just coincidence that the next day of upgrade, I am having problems making calls or sending whatsapp messages at work.

Ahh right, yeah this is true. I guess given the nature of the failure they cannot tell either way, so it's not such a big deal. Cheers for the reminder :)
