Hey.. I tried taking the battery out as well and it didn't help..this is what I did to resolve it:

1) Go to Settings > Application Manager > All applications (on the top). Locate the "BadgeProvider" app, once in there select "clear data";-) all is well

2) Another way to fix the problem is to open the Task Manager and clear the memory stored in your RAM. This will close all running applications that are not essential for the phone's function as well as clear the annoying missed call, text message, email, etc. notifications.

Hope that helps.

Wish I had seen this fix prior to the last android update. I had this issue for months and tried every suggested fix I could find on the internet. Nothing worked. Even after the last update the icon showing an unread message remained. Not until I resorted to a factory reset did it go away

Can anyone recommend where to take my gs3 to get the screen replaced? And is there anywhere that will just replace the glass instead of the whole lcd assembly as everything works but my fingers end up bleeding after extended use. (I imagine this would be a lot cheaper)

I would do it myself but I just don't have the time or patience.

Ps. Looking for a place preferably in christchurch.
I tried koolzone in riccarton mall but they were less than helpful, offering to replace the screen on my red gs3 with either blue or white and we're only going to try and source a red one if I parted with the $400 first.

muppet: With regard to touchwiz redraw issues, I spent some time debugging this.

The problem is system_server is leaking memory, it slowly grows in size from about 70mb on restart
to 240 odd mb. This means lots of apps are stuck in a state of restarting and touchwiz has to load most times its used. I currently work around it by restarting my phone every couple of days.

Apparently lots of people are reporting the issue and it's fixed in 4.1.2.

Hate to think how long it will be before we get 4.1.2. I only just got 4.1.1 from samsung.

Now got my official 4.1.2 update from samsung. Nice improvements such as multiview, and supposedly fixes the sudden death problem. Good that they pushed the update out quickly.

Its an international model purchased from Dick Smiths. Really surprised to get the update so quickly after 4.1.1 which I only got about a month ago. Also has some of same same premium apps as the note 2 such as a brand new gallery app, so impressive update.

I also got the new update and played around with multiview which is cool but I found myself stretching to find uses for it.
My phone is parallel imported from playtech i think.

Hey Guys,

Just a quick question:

Is there any difference between the Telecom SIII and Vodafone SIII?

I know they are quad band so assume there is no difference?

Cheers, Matt.

VF S3 has fast dormancy turned on as VF use it but Telecom do not. Nothing else that I am aware of.

Edit: You can toggle it on and off with this app from the play store so no biggie either way.
