networkn: Because they can!

Sorry I'm just on a morning rage lol. Bet someone could open up the S3 and do a BGA work on the RAM :D

talk has been that LTE 2gb ram is able to be done because of dual core instead of quad core

I wonder if Exynos 4Quad maximum RAM is 1GB and S4 is 2GB.

But if LTE version can put 2GB RAM then why not Exynos Undecided

Cannot see how can this not be done by someone on the internet, upgrade the RAM :)

I read somewhere that they are working on the Exynos 4 Quad but so far no success, similar problems to LTE on Quad, so makes sense to me if putting downspec processor to increase ram if it will work

There is a Snap4 processor Quad core though. But I guess it would over power the Exynos4Quad version if it does. Though adding 2GB RAM would help S3 sell in the US and distinguish the S3 from OneX over there. Having the same spec devices at different price would not end well for Samsung in the US :)

nofam: Only to a point - I've never seen my SGSII get close to maxing out its 1Gb - Android is pretty handy at managing tasks.  There's no point having 2Gb if you barely use 1!

Actually my S2 maxed out the RAM a few times and then crashed and reboot itself. I was doing video editing and at the same time downloading games data, GPS running and a few other games running in the background. It was not pretty to get the RAM hit 800MB mark lol. Everything just freeze and the heat dissipation from the phone could possibly cook an egg.

But I still dream of 2G RAM on S3 international lol. It's on my wishlist.

Wow it's getting competitive out there.

I recall signing up for a $699 plan with VF for 3 years and having to escalate through to the top echelons at VF to get a free $1199 phone.

The value for money proposition is really good right now.

Love the phone, such a nice step up from the sgs 1!
Thanks telecom :-)

It's not as big as I was expecting, I was unsure if 4.8 would be too big, but it's perfect .

Anyone know any retailers in Wellington that have unallocated stock in-store and a demo unit I can play with?

Oh my! I have a real thing for CF, since it was in my Audi S4!

I don't like cases on my phone, though a nice horizontal belt case made of soft leather and a good quality magnetic lock would be something I may look into. Problem is with the size of smartphones now, they are really huge on your belt

Ideally CBD - I'm bad at postponing gratification but I could drive further afield after work.

I'll do the rounds at lunch time but if someone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.
