IronH: wow battery life on mine really sux. 6hr50min on battery, 1hr44min screen on, and I'm at 20% battery. haha maybe I should've stayed with my S3...

No no don't worry, they're all like that when new. You should be getting a full day's use and about four hours screen time once it goes through a few charge cycles. Don't judge the battery for another week or so.

You still on 1.26? 1.29 update definitely helped things out, but I was getting 3.5 on 1.26. I do keep my screen brightness at about 40% (which is plenty bright for me).

ok cheers.

Something else though: Is it just me or does a lot of stuff run better on S2 than on either One X or S3. eg every app on my S2 runs silky smooth, on both S3 and One X I notice some apps run smooth while others are extremely jerky, which is contrary to all the reviews claiming how fast these new devices are. For example when panning around or using pinch to zoom in certain browsers and other apps like quickpic I notice better performance on S2. Is this an ICS issue? or is it a developer thing? it's very inconsistent performance. Do you think this will improve?

And another thing, I think ICS devices need more RAM. I'm finding I can't have as much stuff open at once, on S2 after I close all running apps I have around 450mb of RAM free, on both S3 and One X I get roughly 300MB and I notice a big difference in the number of apps I can run at once or how many browser tabs I can open at once. I'm a heavy multi tasker and can also load as many as 20 browser tabs at once - I like to load all my news articles in background tabs at once in order to preload them. S3 only managed 11 tabs before crashing, I haven't tried One X yet but given the amount of free RAM I'm suspecting similar?

It's kinda making me have second thoughts on selling my S2.

I found that the 1.29 update made things feel a bit smoother. I expect the problem is partially an ICS issue and partially just an optimisation issue for these new devices. I'm sure we are just seeing the beginnings of what these devices are capable of.

I haven't paid much attention to ram but I wouldn't be surprised to find that ICS is more hungry. Again though, I am sure more optimisation will come with future updates.

Hi, I think I will pull the trigger on a One X over the next couple of days. Any thing I need to be aware of?

e.g. Does the parallel imported version differ from the version sold by Telecom/Vodafone/2D? Is there a particular model I should be looking out for?

Cheers

I have a brand new BOXED unit for sale if you want it... FYI I love my current HTC one X (I have 2). The battery issue is nothing, I now get about 45% battery by the end of the day which is amazing compared with my iPhone 4!

Consider me very interested, tried to send you a PM but your profile doesn't have the button. Any chance you are in Auckland? Do you have the receipt for the device? (e.g. warranty)

Humm that's odd you can't message me.

I live in Wellington and it was won through HTC in Australia, so there is a trail but not a receipt as such...

You won't be able to unless you unlock the bootloader and root - basically ruining the warranty in the process

It does not void the warranty. HTC just don't warant the phone from damage as a result of running untested software. That's fair enough, if you fry your Samsung phone with an over clocked rom, it is likely not covered under warranty either.

DSE Downtown in Auckland are doing 20% off Telecom phones, no idea how long this deal is being offered or if other stores are doing it.

Got a HTC One X for $799.
