TheUngeek: Hmmm can you get buds with HTC and beats support?

Pretty sure Beats now runs independent of the headphones. Interested to try music with and without Beats with my Sennheisers when I get home.

I've got a custom ROM on my Inc S and can use Beats audio just fine, although the actual benefits of it are questionable...

That's interesting to hear about the signal strength, I've noticed guys on xda complaining about it. Where'd they get decent signal with their S2, it would be poor on the HOX

Can't speak to anyone else's experience, but at my desk I'm getting -75dbm on the HOX in Network Signal Info, and the Desire can't even download the app because it can't establish a steady connection. Note - the Desire's reception is fine in my house.

3 hours 40 minutes of screen time at 50% brightness on my second charge, with wifi on the whole time and playing Riptide GP and Glowball. Battery is looking fine to me, I'm sure it will keep getting better over the next few cycles.

Stuff so far: Been iPhone user for long long time.

Negative things I notice: Compared to iPhone 4
  • The battery seems to go down quickly compared to iPhone (Easy fix is get a car charger for daytime top up)
  • Fast dialing someone isn't as fast (iPhone you just hit phone icon, then favorites then dial whoever is in there)
  • Both Gmail and HTC mail programmes are clunky compared to IOS mail. And the HTC mail shows Gmail IMAP/ on several folders, is this normal for IMAP'd Gmail?
  • keyboard (either HTC or Swiftkey 3 beta) takes a bit of getting used to, feels complicated.
  • Dye from my jeans is bleeding onto white surface
Positive things I notice:
  •  The rest of it rocks the socks off the iPhone! Seriously, get one, too many awesome things to mention.
Things to consider and what I'm looking forward to as the phone is a week after release:
  • Battery will get even better with updates
  • I'm guessing there are better dialers out there, or if not I'll use groups to speed up quick dialing?
  • I'll find an email client that rocks? I want one that can access all accounts.
  • Same with keyboard

Final thoughts
  • Feels like Android has finally caught up, sort of like when Mac when from tiger to leopard and then went ballistic.
Questions welcome if you feel like it.

Cheers

Glad to see you are enjoying your new phone.

As far as the dialer goes, one of the joys of Android is Widgets. If Sense 4 is anything like previous incarnations, then you just use a 'Favourites' widget and attack the problem from the opposite direction. Choose who you want to contact, then how (phone text email etc).

As for other problems, buy colour fast jeans. Although it is interesting that the white polycarbonate isn't stain resistant. Maybe thats why Nokia chose blue polycarbonate for their phones :/

You can always grab a grey one from Aussie or the UK. I think warranty is worldwide...plus I read in the warranty booklet that it is 24 months!

I never knew HTC had international warranty, and for 24 months? Can someone confirm this too? Cheers!

Why wouldn't it be worldwide?

Yeah can buy grey overseas, but with what I spend on a monthly plan it was looking like I could get it free from Telecom....

Being new to Android..Q: How can i install the stock ICS mail app onto this HTC device? Apparently I can do it without rooting it, so where can I get it?

Cheers
