Was some talk of starting this in the other thread which is now over 200 pages deep. The other thread mentioned seemed to be more full of stock rom hints and tips.

Perhaps we can talk custom in here - what rom is everyone using?

I'm currently running SUPERNEXUS Build 2 on my S3 and LOVING IT. Only real thing I miss is the Samsung camera - any ideas on good replacements?

Wanamlite with Siyah V1.5 recently swapped Kernel to see what battery life was like using Siyah and also have Abyss to try.

How long have you been using the Siyah kernel? I am thinking about installing it to see if any battery improvements (even though I am getting pretty good life currenty)

Am I right in saying when you flash a new ROM the stock kernel bundled in the ROM gets flashed back?

Only two days, cant really say yet about battery life but at first pass it doesnt seem to be as good as the kernel that was in Wanam. Yes, when you flash back the Rom you get the enclosed kernal.

What about this camera mod? Seems like a copy n paste deal, easy to revert

UPDATE:

Question, what is meant by deodexed ROM vs odexed?

Awesome will try that camera out tonight. I find the battery on supernexus to be pretty good - only google sync seems to drain the battery like crazy.

If I turn that off while at work and back on when I leave I can get about 1.5days out of it with around 3 hours screen time (using internet/facebook/twitter)

Looking forward to the actual S3 Jellybean to be released so we can reap the benefits with the custom roms. ICS just looks too childish/cheesy for me - compared to iOS/WP7

Official Samsung S3 firmware leak. Anyone brave enough to try?

Pretty sure I will give it a go tomorrow.

I prefer the sleek UI of ASOP vs Samsung's colourful and basic looking interface
E.g. the dialer, SMS, etc

its ok trying it as long as you don't mind bugs, I'm happy to wait till the devs work their magic and monitor the progress. I'm not a fan of being first on block and bit too lazy when it comes to setting it all back up again. I did try supernexus for a while but went back to something more stable.

Supernexus build 2 is really stable for me? I've been using it as my sole ROM since is was released and had no problems at all. I also love the look of it compared to Samsungs cartoon style colours
