Hi there, I have had my S3 for less than a month now and just dropped it onto a tile floor from approx 1m. There is a crack on the screen and it does not respond to any sort of touches. It has this case on it, useless as far as I am concerned. What are my options? After searching online, it seems that the Samsung warranty will not cover the screen and i doubt Vodafone's will be either (I purchased it from them). Could insurance policy cover it? My dad takes care of that so I honestly have no idea what the process is. Otherwise what sort of costs am I looking at to replace the screen, will there be extra repairs due to the lack of touch response? As a 16 year old who paid for it on his own, I really cannot afford another s3 or massive bills. I figure I'll take the phone into Vodafone tomorrow just to try my luck, if figure i may as well try...

If it is covered by house insurance, it is likely to have a large excess. You can get a new screen fitted for about $300 on trademe. It won't be covered by warranty.

It's the kind of thing we see every day at the shop, unfortunately it's an expensive fix $360. If you're planning to fix it yourself I suggest you get the whole frame as removing the digitizer/display isn't easy.

Ah well, that case look really badass, may have to get one after the screen gets fixed! I'm really happy with it. It bulks up the edges of the phone a LOT. Pros: SUPER EASY to hold to phone (I can't keep hold of a naked S3 properly, S2 design was much better). Has proved its worth on multiple drops. ~1 second removal. ~3 seconds to put on. Looks really good. Fit and finish is absolutely perfect. Edges all match up nicely, no defects, looks like the premium case that it is. Volume and power buttons work flawlessly and feel great - no accidental pushes, and you can still feel the stock 'click'. No reports from callers of muffled sound - mic is unobstructed. Should be fine with any headphone plug you can throw at it. Six months or so of abuse and still looks brand new. Cons: Very difficult to get out of gym shorts and business pants pockets (easy to get out of jeans though). Takes some of the 'class' out of the handset (often take the phone naked when I know theres going to be $10k worth of smartphones on show at the bar/restaurant/party hahaha). Thanks for that, I certainly agree about the difficulty in holding the phone naked compared to the s2. For anyone who is wondering, here is a pic of the screen on. It does actually look cool, if only it wasn't a cracked screen and a $300+ repair....
