Topic # 114539 22-Feb-2013 18:29 Send private message

Hi,

I'm in the process of testing something but need a kind soul who has the soho channel to see if they can record/watch Game of Thrones that are on tonight.  Game of thrones on Soho used to require the pincode to watch (same as True Blood) but for some reason it appears to have stopped asking me so I was wondering if it was just my machine/card or whether they've removed the need for it.

Any help is appreciated :-)

Chris

It depends what time it's on at.

Can't remember times excactly but something like before 8.30pm all 18+ rated programs require pin, before that time no pin required unless you got 18+ pin set in parental settings in decoder.

Same with mysky, but it's the time program recorded at, play back time doesn't matter.

Indeed, although I thought certain premium HBO stuff was pincoded any time... However I've got some older GoT which where pincoded and now playback without and I'm just curious!

Correct, and it's a pain in the backside for recording shows on during the day. Even if you put in your pin and set the age restriction to allow 18+ material, and have no children in the house, to "protect the children" it still requires manual entry of the pin for any 18+ material that screens between 8am and 8.30pm.

It's really annoying (I queue up recordings by booking them on the STB and setting my DVD recorder), and one more thing to bear in mind when scheduling recordings. When you forget, you have a glorious recording consisting only of a blue screen and a message to enter your pin.

Of course, no parent would ever give their teen the pin, and no teen is smart enough to get around this by booking/recording the program from a later run time......

I really wish Sky would let this "feature" be disabled in settings (which do, and should, need a pin number to change)

However, I recorded Trueblood at 8.30am this morning and low and behold it playsback without a pin entry... That is marked as 18+ and it was on Soho... I do have all the pin option turned off though, yet it was an HBO program on Soho...

Anyone able to test this for me now as my box is allowing me to watch GoT without any pincode...

I thought if you recored an R18 program during the day, at play back it would ask for a pin code.
I know after 20:30 there is not pin code required.

Maybe if its recorded during the day, but played back after 20:30 it wont require a pin code?

Maybe that's true if you have a MySky, I don't. I have, and prefer, a DVD recorder plugged into a non-MySky STB - for a variety of reasons.
