FIXiT version 1.0 (note mixed case in name) was announced in this morning's The Dominion Post pA5 as an application to report problems (eg potholes) to the Wellington City Council.

Has anyone got it to work?

There is already a comment on Google Play Store that it crashes when trying to find/record location, and that is also my experience (Samsung Galaxy Ace 2, Android 2.3.6).

Instead of using money on this the council should support initiatives already out there for more platforms, such as NeatStreets.

I don't get the paper - is it supposed to be some sort of replacement for Fix My Welly?

They don't mention that. Actually "Fix My Welly" looks that it might even be superior because it might allow the report to be sent (e-mail) to others besides the Council. However I haven't been able to find "Fix My Welly".

Yep location broken for me, crashes. On SIII and old Nexus One. Without location you can't submit. The release date is November so it's pretty old.

Not sure why they waste money when Neatstreets and Fixmystreet are around.

What's in it for third party apps? Do they charge the council for their involvement? If you are using a tool for your own staff to report back maybe it suits the WCC to use their own.

The third party sysyems usually email the relavent council wherever you are around the country. Much simpler for the user if your in multiple council areas. The only thing an in house app would do is as you say is possibly integrate with their system.

Thr main thing the council needs to work on once they fix the broken app is getting 3rd parties to fix their own property which gets tagged or broken. You can report it and either takes weeks or a few follow ups.

Overnight FIXiT version 1.0 was automatically updated on my 'phone to ... 1.0

So, uninstalled 1.0 and re-installed FIXiT from Play Store.  Now version 1.1.2 which seems to geolocate OK.
