I need to replace my ageing Dell 9300 laptop as my main work machine and I have a 745 desktop sitting around doing nothing. It only has a single on-board VGA though. I have two Dell LCD's to drive, one 23" with hdmi/dvi/vga and another 22" with dvi/vga, so Im wondering if there are any dual dvi's at half height around for a reasonable price. I see there are dvi splitter cables but have no idea how good they may be. What are you all using to run multiple monitors ? HDMI is backward compatible with DVI, thus any of the readily available low profile video cards with DVI and HDMI would be an option. Just need a DVI to HDMI cable and you're sorted. No way you'd fit two DVI ports on a single low profile bracket and thus would most likely need some kind of break out cable like the post above.

dimsim: PCIE? http://www.trademe.co.nz/563269463 The cable is just a dual DVI. I think you can also get a dvi/VGA cable if needed also. Your DVI cables simply connect to it.

Those gutless quaddros are totally hopeless cards. Cant even animate aero smootly on dual 1080p screens. Richard rich.ms

Yes, that is a dual output card, the break out cable takes it to 2 different dual link DVI outputs so you could in theory drive a couple of nice 27" monitors off those cards, but those quaddros are made for financial traders and similar, not for people who want to use anything 3D Richard rich.ms
