Gosh I did buy a Amiko Mini Hd satellite receiver (same software on the Amiko 8240 HD) lately on TM .

Not happy at all with it , overpriced saw the same one selling on a Italien website for EURO 59, -
link from the Amiko website

ttp://www.amikostb.com/?q=global

http://www.plugandplay.it/

Stay away from it not worth the money

Useless seller by the way , asked same day straight away after receiving by email for return , next day after I had to ring him myself , but he was quite puzzled etc , at the end after few days was ok in this exception to send back but I ,
did not trust it , too send it back , thought probably wont see the money again , so kept it (for the mean time before it goes on TM)
Made a few settings changes like brighness etc thought that made it better , changed them back the way they were after few days , no good

Main reason Very poor picture quality with HDMI 1080p
like looking at an "crt tv set."
Like NHK HD on IS19 Cband looks crap.
All channels look fussy not bright or clear picture and a lot of motion movement and stuttering
with latest firmware

Even noticed by the missis who normaly would not even care , tv picture is tv picture she would say

I do know somebody who tested Amiko before they got imported to NZ and was not happy with the performance at all and price .

I do know Amiko Alien has different prossesor
Alien has sti chip and Mini /8240 has ali chip

2 weeks later I bought another one , now from Ultrapower nz
a Xcruiser xdsr385HD , Sti chip  satellite receiver , he just got them in
What a fantastic receiver , absolute brillant  picture quality
Like NHK HD on IS19 Cband looks stunning.
And much better tuner
I am getting NHK HD on IS19 on my Xcruiser no problem where at the same time the Amiko has a lot of break ups or no picture at all , thats on a 90cm dish with absolutely perfectly tuned and alligned didish with c band lnb.

Like yesterday I kept changing from Xcruiser to Amiko on HDMI 1 and HDMI 2
On a certain channel I compared a man sitting down with a White shirt and tie on
On the Xcruiser foldings im thr white shirt showed up in the screen like clear picture,
On the Amiko it was just one plain white shirt foldings did not even show up ,
hard too explain but hope you guys know what I mean

Xcruiser XDSR385HD satellite receiver absolute recommended
