Topic # 114458 20-Feb-2013 13:38 Send private message

Just stumbled across this while looking for something else.

External antenna with cable, mounting, plugs etc. for under $30.00.

Appears to be today only 20/02/13

I bought this last time it was on special. It seems pretty good.

It is mostly held together by wing nuts so easy to put together.

Things to watch for:

  • The prongs are very fragile and easy to bend as you unpack it.
  • The elements (?) are lying flat along the arm when delivered. They swing up and snap into place. These are VERY stiff - one of the black plastic bits broke off while I was doing this. Fortunately there are two lugs not just one. I'd recommend some sort of lube so as to help ease them into position.
  • There is a conical rubbery boot to help weatherproof the connection to the aerial cable. It doesn't look up to much so at the very least put some tape around the cable to stop the boot slipping.
Oh and make sure the person holding your ladder is wearing your cycle helmet, in case you drop the aerial on their head - it's heavy and sharp.

+1.
I have one that we have been using coming on a year soon. It has worked flawlessly.

Their website terms and conditions say there is a minimum $40 amount per order.

The website took my last four orders this year which have all been under $40. Three have been delivered already.

[Edit: Just checked and all were in the last month too]

If we all send you the T&C's we can't be bothered to read, can you read them for us?

If you charged a few bucks a time, you'd make a fortune!

True for so many situations.
