I have a sattilite dish and a Hills box. I can record only one tv programe at a time. So If I am watching TV, that is the only programe I can record. Is there another "box" that I can purchase that is reliable and will allow me to watch one channel and record another channel at the same time.

Pretty much any Sat box will do that.
I dont think the Hills has a loop through , so make sure you get one that has.
I'm assuming you have more than one av input too.

There are a few dual tuner sat boxes that will allow you to record 2 channels at once, try www.freeviewshop.co.nz, they have a selection

The Dish TV S7090PVR satellite receiver is probably what you want. It has two tuners and an internal hard drive and is available for under $400. I don't know how reliable it'd be but make sure it has the latest firmware installed.

High definition signals are only available on terrestrial broadcasts which are received by UHF aerial. The internal tuners in TVs with Freeview built in only work with UHF signals. So if you're in the UHF broadcast zone it'd be best to have an aerial installed and use a HD receiver instead.

Plug in through HDMI if your TV has it. Don't pay too much for HDMI cables, the $50 1.8m cable is about $45 profit to them.

I have both the Dishtv S7090pvr  and the Ultraplus x9200  and both have been excellent.   I do prefer the Ultraplus with its epg but the series link is flakey.  It is almost double the price of the Dishtv s7090.   My dishtv s7090 did develop a major fault last year but Dishtv were excellent and the unit was sent on Monday and was back with me on the Thursday. So going on that I would easily recommend the Dishtv S7090pvr for overall practical usage




HTPC AMD A4-5300 cpu, Gigabyte ga2fa75m-d3h motherboard, , 4GB DDR3 ram, onboard  graphics. Hauppuage HVR 3300 tuner,  Antec 2480B case, Windows 7 home premium 64 bit using media center

I have had a Dish PVR S7090 for nearly two years.  They did a lot of development last year and since last April it has not put a foot wrong.  It has the second to latest software.  It can record two channels while you are watching a third, or playing a recording. Highly recommend as they are local and service is excellent.
