Hah, I've had fibre down my street since september, but I can't sign up with anyone because they nobody has a handover in Wanganui. 'Tis a special kind of torture.

Orcon just announced they are good to go but Telecom are due for an announcement so I would wait for that.

Well I signed up to this deal on Friday last week, UFB install planned for this Friday (Not that I was prompted by the deal - more that the fibre outside my place went 'active' on the Thursday).

Been very impressed by the customer service so far - hope the service lives up to my expectations.

Chris.

The install was completed on Friday - Chorus did a pretty good job & put everything where I wanted it - even connecting up the existing phone jack points to the ATA(Fon) port. A few issues with configuration, but after a short call to the helpdesk it was all up and running. My wife was a little sceptical about VOIP as our primary phone line (we have been burned in the past), but this has been flawless so far - and the ability to get voicemail messages emailed is a nice bonus!

The only issue I have now is that the speed of the connection is showing the limitations of WiFi pretty painfully...spent most of this afternoon running Cat6 from the Fritz box to my primary PC. Transfers from Snap servers/cache is blisteringly fast, and to date >90% of my usage has been from zero rates sites!

Have been really impressed with both the customer service and performance of the actual connection.

Chris.

I was curious as to why the snap website says no UFB connection is available at my place (in Tauranga) when in fact I've been able to connect to UFB since last November as follows . . .

I do find the Snap website quite difficult to locate information.

"Free 100GB data pack including unlimited nights (unlimited data between the hours of 1am and 7am)"

Is this 100gb data pack on top of the 100gb already included in the plan?

The website is accurate - Snap aren't signed up as a retailer of Ultrafast Fibre (the company providing the UFB network in Waikato/BOP), so Snap can't provide you fibre.

Hey, thanks for the clarification.   The website says....

"It looks like UFB isn't available at your address"

But this is not true.UFB is available at my address, just not through Snap.

The website should say what you said...

"Snap aren't signed up as a retailer of Ultrafast Fibre so Snap can't provide you fibre"

Yeah. Obviously they wouldn't want to be promoting other ISPs though, but inserting the word Snap in would make it more sensible.

"It looks like Snap UFB isn't available at your address"
