Hi, I am looking at revamping my home setup.  What I have at the moment: Digital (Sat) Tv Freeview receiver, Wireless G router and laptop with Hard drive.  What I want: Android TV, better coverage from my wireless router and some sort of NAS storage.  I am thinking of:  New Router (N?), with built in hard drive or USB support for storage, and some sort of Android TV box.

Has anyone got any ideas of a nice setup?  I am interested in an Andoid TV box, that is Android 4+, has remote and either has NZ digital Sat TV freeview input , or allows me to input my Freeview box into the Android box and use Android remote...

Any ideas??

Just a heads up re the router and USB storage. If you ever use the router USB port make sure it delivers on speed. Many of them are really slow and thus unusable in the real world.

Good luck with your project.

Have you considered a Raspberry Pi running XBMC? The Live TV support is still in its infancy but I have it working pretty well on my system. I have a home server running Ubuntu which acts as my NAS, Live TV server (via TVHeadend) and central media library for XBMC (via MySql) feeding 2 Pis in different rooms.

Apart from the server, it is very cheap to add additional clients - a Pi can be landed for under $50.

Thanks for your replies appreciate it.  I am staying away from server/client typical techy setups, as  dont have any hardware lying around, want to keep power bills, noise etc to a minimum, and dont have the patience to set it up... I am now thinking of one of these  Netgear Centria WNDR4700

A storage router, with built in 2TB of storage and DNLA compatible with android devices, anyone know where you can buy these in NZ?

Just viewed the latest list of products available in NZ from Netgear and it doesn't list the WNDR4700.
