not sure if you can.  i bought one when they came out and am ready to through it against the wall, crush it with a bulldozer and do whatever else to get rid of all signs of it.   It has crashed a few times.  Horrible when halfway through a movie then it crashes and it takes you back to the menu system. Then you spend another half hour trying to navigate back to the film.
Might be better with a keyboard and if you can type in the name but otherwise it is very frustrating and slow navigating with the supplied remote.  Worst purchase ever in my view.   But as I say maybe if you can get a keyboard it would be better.
It probably is best to keep netflix on computer than this

Netflix on a computer is just annoying IMO - good on a laptop, but a bit crap from 3 - 6m away with a remote control.

Also was looking for something simple for my boss that would let him trial quickflix and then later on maybe add netflix if he wanted to jump through the hoops.

I have one, and have added Netflix. (went into browser, searched for Netflix.apk, downloaded latest version)

however the actual product itself (the dongle) is such bad quality that I don't bother with it. it;s ok for web browsing, playing music, or playing angry birds, but for things that require a bit moe grunt the processing power just isn't there.
Better of going for an Apple TV IMO. the netflix appactually works properly on that.

(obviously you need unblock-us or a similar service to get it working)

Oh yeah, netflix on Apple TV is great.....of course can't get quickflix on there (and it's never likely to get there) nor TVNZ ondemand when the apps for that are released (which should come out on android).

So YMMV depending on what you want to play with.

yup.

easiest way to get Quickflix on a TV if you don;t want to shell out money for a new 'smart tv' would be to get a second hand PS3 that has a broken disc drive.  you can probably get one on trademe for less than $100 and you obviously don't need the blu-rya drive to watch quickflix  (and you can also use it for TVNZ ondemand, netflix, vudu, and a bunch of other things too)

Hi All,

Some further feedback based on a SmartVu I bought via 1Day.

I agree the remote technology is unwieldy, but the main problem with this unit is that 99% of the apps that I use regularly *will not* run on the SmartVu. I phoned support to see if there was a firmware upgrade available (currently runs 4.0), but there have been no updates since release. The tech was apologetic, and suggested they *may* be interested in doing an update, but have nothing in the works currently.

I am going to give it another few hours of playing with it to see if I can wring any value out of my $84.95 spend, but I am not toally confident.

Thanks,
Jason
