I find it unbelievable that here we are in April 2012, we have broadcasters dabbling in 3D technology and feeling quite at home with HD technology, yet here is The Living Channel NZ still struggling to cope with the fundamentals of SD widescreen, a format that has been around now for well over a decade.

I know this has been discussed before and we gave them a bit of a pass as it was 'new' to them, but really it's time for them to sort their sh*t out I think.

Just today, I happened to be flicking through and saw that they were broadcasting a TV show with both letter-boxing and pillar-boxing, and *still* the resultant image was in the wrong aspect ratio -- tall and skinny.

What are they doing? They need to get a clue. Even their own idents and self-produced ads are all over the place - some with letter boxing, some with pillar-boxing, many with the wrong aspect ratio, or a combination thereof.

Come on, Living Channel. Even if your source material is 4:3 (and why on earth are you still buying and/or showing programming that is so old it's 4:3 anyway?), you should be zooming or cropping or both - not postage-stamping. If you are going to postage-stamp, at least make sure the end result is the right aspect ratio. In other words: sort it out!!!

Rant over.

What's even more annoying is when they change their aspect ratio part way into a program as they did with "Holmes Inspection" a couple of months ago.

Not nearly as annoying as that car stereo that won't power your USB device I'd imagine. How's that working out for you?

Not quite the raw nerve you'd expect...  I've gone the way of an iPod.  It works perfectly thanks!

That's great news. Happy trolling.
