Perhaps the Igloo box will record. Over at https://getsatisfaction.com/iglootv , somone identified as IGLOO Support (Official Rep) has said in reply to a question: "For now IGLOO doesn’t provide a recording functionality so you won’t be able to record the IGLOO channels on a digital recorder because they are encrypted. But we’re already thinking of adding this functionality in the future." And in answer to my question if this would be via hardware or software "If we did decide in the future to add the functionality to record, this could be added as an over the air download via UHF." Here's hoping!

I think when they first announced igloo they said it would have "live pause" - recodring to USB device. Assuming thats the case its not too much of a stretch to have a basic record facility. Just received: IGLOO DISAPPOINTED TO ANNOUNCE LAUNCH DELAY New Zealanders will have to wait a little longer before they can plug in IGLOO. Chaz Savage, General Manager of IGLOO, explains, “It is so disappointing to have to say that we are not in a position to launch. We are genuinely gutted. We’re dealing with a full technology build: hardware and software – no mean feat and never without its challenges. He wants to launch IGLOO after feedback has been considered and he is "completely confident" the service is ready. So in other words our trial has gone badly, very badly............

I have to say I'm actually rather excited to see what Igloo finally looks like, I still don't envision myself signing up. Trying to make a product that is attractive to the market but not so attractive that people cancel their Sky subscriptions and sign up for the 'cheap option' is no easy task. Should be fun to see how it turns out. Didn't anybody tell you I was a hacker?

I'm getting quite impatient. I've been trying to find out whether they will screen all Warriors games or just some and can't get a straight answer. I'm okay with the fact that they have launch delays, thats quite normal. I'm not okay with the lack of clarity and detail of their product offering. They could tease us more with whats coming rather than stopping all the information.

$15 per match is nearly 10% the price that these boxes are likely to sell for. Well I guess they don't want a thread similar to one already on here about another box that is almost 100 pages long. You do actually buy these igloo boxes, and under the CGA they have to be free from minor defects. Better for a delay, than rush it to market with problems.

Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat New Zealand as a Solution Architect for all things Linux, Virtual and of course Cloud. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.
