CYaBro: Sky have to do something though don't they, and soon, otherwise they will lose their UHF frequencies??

That have already built their network and it is up and running, so they have complied with the build conditions

I have an idea I read somewhere that each analog broadcaster had the option to change to digital
so Sky   TAB   etc  should be able to get a UHF Digital channel
not sure on time frame to use it   I would imagine it would be a couple of years !!

I think SKy have a few they can convert, TAB have just converted to digital. There is a 2 year conversion period from memory

Didn't  Trackside go on to the DTT platform early last year and the analog shutdown in May 2011??

Yes they did   but they would still be able to have their own UHF channel   as they had analogue channels
so in theory they could  go off freeview !!

When Trackside goes HD then maybe their own mux but hardly necessary for the current 2 Mbps offering.

Looks like Igloo was an iceberg instead. A week ago an installer who seemed very technically minded knew absolutely nothing about it, and the other installer 2 weeks ago never even heard about it.

Have been told that Channel 800, which was recently testing, is Igloo.
Anybody confirm?

I doubt it   Igloo has been transmitting since March ,  has its own MUX on a separate UHF Channel   and is DVBT2   so current receivers wont see it  ,  even my DVBT  Sig level and quality meter  wont decode it   just gives sig level

No doubt about it. Ch 800 is not Igloo. Separate set up entirely as Kiwisteve says. I can meter it and see the channels on the work meter but we don have the keys to unlock it so no decode for us

Just received a call with some more information.

Unfortunately it seems Igloo is not launching end of September. The folks are still working out some small kinks.

I was invited to see a demo though as it seems the product is in a stage where it's feature complete - just not performing 100% in some areas it seems. As I'm not in AKL I won't be seeing the demo but will have a phone call later today about the product.

I just had a phone call with their CEO and he is adamant the platform is complete but needs some fine tuning. He won't commit on a final date yet...

Did he say that Kim Dotcom didn't donate any money and that if he did he knows nothing about it?

Didn't anybody tell you I was a hacker?
