This is an openbox s12.

Cheap, google suggests issues with heat, but DVB-S2 capable. I considered getting one a while back as can take a suitable Sky card too, but there's no ***EDIT no free *** DVB-S2 / DVB-S HD content available off most NZ common satellites now to use this with.

Why do people keep repeating this incorrect information as though it is fact???

There IS DVB-S2 from Optus D1, I watch it every night, but you need to pay Sky for the privilege.  If Sky ever decide to disable the use of their smart cards in third party receivers, I will cancel my sub. but until such time as that happens (if it ever does), I am happy to pay the $45 per month to access this content with my Vu+ Duo.

HI Grant K, I'm intrigued by your useful comments in that I have an ultraplus 900  and note is has the slots for cards. I also have found when doing a full scan I can get the SKY channels but of course they are encrypted. I was told that I am unable to just get a card/cards from SKY to access their channels.

Reading your comments seems to say that tou're doing exactly what I would really like to do.....hopefully I haven't got the wrong emd of the stick here and you could guide me asto how I go about the process??

I presume there is a charge for the card on top of the monthly rate??.......many thanks......Smile

Huge apologies Undecided

I have edited the above post to reflect that if you're prepared to pay $45 a month then you can get access to a few selected channels in HD , along with the occasional HD format feed etc.

For everyone else not in that situation the initial post above made reference to the fact that the additional channels previously available in these HD formats are no longer available.

Out of interest, what plan / combination are you using to get the hd channels for $45 a month. That rate implies a basic non hd subscription. Are the HD channels able to be decrypted with a non sky issued box with the standard subscription / 45 series card?

yes, as long as you subscribe to the sd versions the blue cards will decrypt the HD versions of the channel.
