I had an install a couple of years ago and the cable was clipped down the side of my house. This has now been chewed by the dogs. Who pays for the cable to be replaced me cos my dogs ate it or sky cos there installer did a lazy job by clipping it and not using conduit? also the cable can quite easily of been run down  the inside of the wall as is 70's brick with a massive gap.

I think you should make the owner of the dog pay for it

Installing TV coax in conduit isn't standard practice, neither is running it internally as you've described.

Your dog, your problem. Sounds like the install was pretty typical, and as it has performed (I assume) for the last 2 years without any problems, you can hardly blame Sky for it.

Never heard of dogs eating co-ax before but rats and mice do.

You probably should have told him to run it internally. Our neighbours house is a classic example of sh!tty install/planning by electrician. It s a million dollar house only 7 years old and there is black coax cable going everywhere on the roof.

+1. Sky pay their Installers to do a standard "external cable-run" installation.

If the customer wants something over and above a standard installation (internal cable run, etc) then the customer pays the Installer privately to do the work.

I've attended dozens of these jobs, so it's actually quite common. Especially if you've got a bored dog and a cable running down the wall at "nose height"! There is some paste you can buy to lather all over the cable which seems to stop them.

Cheers,   WildBill.
