I sent in some feedback from within the SkyGo app relating to how daft the combination of 2 device limit and 30 day change period is. Got an email response that they'd reset my 2 devices. Helpful, but...

It's locked down to one concurrent login per account anyway so why the device the limit? To add the 30 day thing on top is just stupid.

If you don't like it, do complain. Hopefully they'll see some sense.

I feel the reason is loaning out SkyGo logins the way many loaned out iSky logins. If they could find a way to authenticate so they knew only the valid customer can use it, then I expect there would be no device limit or 30 day rule

Since you can only have one concurrent login per account now you'd be a muppet to give out your creds, and even if you did, no one can 'spam' SkyGo with it 'cos only one person at a time can view anything with those account details.

The limit on devices needs to go up to support at least 4-5 devices, to cover a household properly.

Exactly right, thats why they have the 1 access, 2 devices and the 30 day rule to stop users loaning them out as they did with iSky

  Totally agree.  It wasn't a problem with iSky that you could login from any PC so why now? 

I imagine a lot of people will have the same issue that I have which is that in our house I have an iPhone and an iPad, my wife has an iPhone and an iPad mini, we have a desktop and a laptop and at any time we might want to access this service on any of those devices.  This is simply nuts.

I've also sent feedback through the app and will also post on their twitter feed.

I've talked with UnblockUs about the SkyGo app and how it won't work with the current settings. Replies below. I am yet to test the secondary DNS recommendation as I'm away. Can someone else give this a go and see if it works?

Can you do a test for me as something has come up with another customer with the same issue.

Can you change your DNS to

Primary: 208.122.23.22
Secondary: 208.122.23.23

See if this allows you access to SkyGo NZ for me, and let us know how you get on.

Your case has been passed onto ourselves here in 2nd level support, so we'll be the ones who will be looking after your case from now on.

I've spoken to our tech team on this issue that you are having, they have said that as we already support Sky Go for the UK. It won't be possible to add a bypass for Sky Go NZ, as the service works in the same way as the Sky Go UK version, so it would break the UK service and it would be impossible to allow access to both services without breaking one.

Unfortunately, this is a restriction with the Unblock-us service and one for which we have no work around.

The best advice which we can offer, is to either keep changing the DNS on your device when you want access to this service, or keep one device to use this service with and keep this using your local ISP's DNS.

I'm sorry that we are unable to help any further than this, with this issue.

The one concurrent login stops people loaning out their account, AND stops SkyGo from getting spammed. The 2 device limit combined with the 30 day rule is far too restrictive. When I went to watch the cricket on Wednesday I fired up Chrome on my Mac as I always did with iSky. I ogged into the new SkyGo and kept getting Flash errors. Failing to remedy that I went to Safari which worked.

I then downloaded the app for my iPad and when I logged into the app was told my 2 devices were already taken up by 2 browsers on the one PC. It's silly.

Incidently, my feed kept getting disconnected on wednesday, listening to the Sky Sport ad every single time I had to refresh the feed got real old real fast.

To a degree, if others want to use my SkyGo to watch what I want to. I dont disagree on all these points, but I can see why Sky do this. They need some authentication, then it could be "rule-less" but I doubt they can authenticate to a level where they know each access is the valid Sky custonmer

I understand why they are doing it - the real question is do they have to.  With iSky you weren't limited to a set number of PC's you could log in from so why the change now?  They have their protection from the no-more than one concurrent login rule - I wouldn't give my login details out because (i) it might mean I couldn't watch something when I wanted to and (ii) the login for Sky Go is also the login for your account on the Sky website and I don't want anyone else having access to that information/settings - basically you'd have to be an idiot to give away your details (although I know a few who have to their kids etc.).

Yep, pretty much agree. I know a few who shared, and its been mentioned on here too in the past.  And in the past the logins to Sky were shared, many didnt see that as a big deal. So that is no different to now. Big event on, that the subscriber isn't into, it happens. Not any more though as there are only to devices in play.

They may think of a better solution. Or relax this 2 device one to maybe 4 devices, but while I dont work for Sky I can still see why.

That did not work here. Taking Unblockus off of the DNS setup on the iPad did work though. So it is Unblockus that messes up the service.

One other issue is that the app keeps asking if I'm watching - this is a pain in the a$$ as if I happend to pop away for a few minutes when that comes up it lets my iPad go to sleep and I have to reconnect. None of my other video apps do this - its a good idea in theory and a terrible one in practice.
