Just talked to an elderly person who is a sky basic subscriber paying $45 per month. They were cold called by sky and they were offering them a free mysky box. No setup fee and no extra subscription fee. They were told it was one of the older boxes, so you could only record two channels at the same time, and not change from those channels while recording. Also has a smaller harddrive Seemed like an ok deal, and they seem happy with it, and it will probably stop them downgrading to igloo in the future. I guess they are offering the old boxes that people returned who had upgraded to the new boxes, so it makes use of the old hardware. Wondering how many people they are offering this to.

I just called from home saying Sky had just called and offered this to us too. I'm wondering if there are any hidden fees anywhere. May as well say yes if it's all free. I can record Sky already onto my HDD recorder, but I guess this would make it easier.

Chainsaw: I can record Sky already onto my HDD recorder, but I guess this would make it easier.

i used to record a fair bit from my Sky receiver to my HDD recorder, but once i got MySky i found that when it came to transferring the shows to my HDD and THEN trying to burn them onto a disc, a few channels are COPY PROTECTED

ONE
TV2
3
SKY MOVIES
SKY MOVIES GREATS
MGM
TCM
RIALTO

i can understand them bloking movies (fair enough) but the free to air ones are a bit of a pain to work around. Good job i have two FreeView boxes that i can record off if there's anything i know i want to keep ;)
