Hi,

I am wondering if it is possible to view Sky in HD without owning a MySky HDMI box? Desperate to watch Skysport in HD but am not so keen on those extra smackeroos for the box.

If that is the case and I have to get the box, how much am I looking at? I've heard you can pay a lump sum of like $600 for lifetime access. Wondering what that works out to in the long run.

Cheers guys!

You will not get sky sports in hd if you haven't paid the hd ticket.

That one off $600 is a con, because the moment you cancel Sky or Mysky they take the decoder back along with everything on the HDD.

Unless, like me, I have had myski  since it came out. I paid the $600. As long as you have myski for more than 3 and half years you are then on the winning side. 8-)

+1

I have also had MySky since Jan 05 when they first came out, so have well and truly got my money's worth by now.  Even though MySky now sits in the cupboard while Vu+ Duo does its job (and a lot more besides), the $599 was money well spent all those years ago.

Are you with Vodafone for home phone and internet? If you are then you can get the mysky hdi box for free if you are on either ideal or ulitmate pack.

You would need to buy the HD ticket which is $10 a month to get hd for sky sports.

HD shows on 1 2 and 3 dont require the hd ticket though.

+2.  I paid $600 and got My Sky HD when it first came out.  No intention to get rid of it at all, so I will definitely come out on the winning side.

Vu Duo with skycard in slot will get you HD aswel regardless of HD ticket or not, but make the most of it while you can, providers in other countries are making changes to their systems (extra layer of cw encryption) so the cards return incorrect cw's when used in third party boxes.  Foxtel in Australia have recently done this and other providers in europe using nds have done so too, so I would say its only a matter of time until sky does the same.

Maybe it's Sky's way of staying legal? Smile

The law says that recording of video content is only for a reasonable period of time to allow you to watch it. Using a VHS/DVD/MySky for long term archival storage of broadcast material is actually against the law.
